Lenovo X300 Takes On The MacBook Air

Interestingly the Lenovo is down on processor and memmory speeds, however this offset by the additional features of an optical drive, ethernet and multiple USB ports.

Another unique feature to the X300 is the ability to switch out your optical drive and insert another battery for up to a claimed 10 hours of battery life, compared to the Macbook Air's 5. Also note claimed and actual vary significantly.

The story is too old to be commented.

The macbook air is a farce. Clearly, this is the macbook air taking on Toshiba, Lenovo and Sony who have _VASTLY_ superior ultraportable laptops.

Next to MBA, the X300 is a fugly plasticky adding machine. Another point for getting MBA is that it runs os x and after finally ditching windows and buying myself a macbook (pro), i finally understand what the fuss is about.

Aesthetic is a matter of opinion but there's nothing wrong with being attracted to something that is pleasing to the eyes. Lenovo may be built like a tank but if you know a little bit about the history of design, just because an object is designed to function, it doesn't have to compromise its form. The great thing about apple is that to them, form and function are intertwined. Of course, they don't make perfect product, but the effort is well documented and in many instances (case in point: the iPod), they've succeeded. I like to based my purchase on stuff like that not some arbitrary performance benchmark or the fact that something is built to be sturdy because you know as much as I do that computers don't last.

Wouldn't pay more than even $1500 for a laptop that could speak back to you...
