Five-star games; six months into 2013 and we have 10. Best year for gaming ever?

Digitally Downloaded writes: "2013 has had an incredible first have, turning up no fewer than 10 five-star games. At Digitally Downloaded we're not so silly to say that a five-start game is perfect (our system is more like a five-star hotel in that it's the very top of what is currently available), but just taking a quick look at these games below and you'll see that across almost every genre and platform, 2013 has already thrown up incredible (and important) games that everyone who is a genuine fan of games absolutely must play." (Fire Emblem: Awakening, Frozen Synapse, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, Pandora's Tower, PS3, Ridiculous Fishing, Sid Meier's Ace Patrol, The Last Of Us, Tomb Raider, Wii U, Xbox 360, XCOM: Enemy Unknown)

2013 is really one of the best gaming years ever! PERIOD! PlayStation at its best!
Tearaway
Killzone Mercenaries and Shadow Fall
Ni No Kuni
God of War
Drive Club
Beyond
BioShock
The Last of Us
GT6
Knack

My head is spinning right now!!

And next year is the year of the "4"

2014 ==> 201"4"
PS"4"
Uncharted"4"
God of War"4"
Resistance"4"

Hands down

ok most of those were crappy games. I give Last of Us and Bioshock Infinite a thumbs up, but you can keep the rest of them.
MattS  +   617d ago
Yeah. In your opinion.

Last I checked you weren't the supreme arbiter of quality.

Seriously. Anyone who claims that Ni No Kuni, XCOM, Tomb Raider, Frozen Synapse, and Fire Emblem are "crappy" games has more than a few screws loose.

Ace Patrol and Pandora's Tower are more niche interest games, I'll give you that much.

By no means am I discrediting your opinion, but I'm one of those people that don't consider iOS games part of the core equation in gaming. In fact, I'm not even saying I'm right for thinking that way, just being honest about it.

Last year of a generation is always the best year of that gen.

1998 is the best year in gaming history.

Half-Life
Metal Gear Solid
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Resident Evil 2
Panzer Dragoon Saga
Xenogears
ParasiteEve
StarCraft
Banjoe-Kazooie
Spyro the Dragon
Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six
Fallout 2
Grim Fandango
Theif: The Dark Project
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
Mario Party
Suikoden II

Oh yeah, and the best game that year...

Baldur's Gate :D

Seriously, it's hard to imagine there will ever be another year as great as that, and I even left off some good games.

holy cow! panzer dragoon saga, suikoden, xenogears, resident evil, and dragon force. MEMORIES! i feel like going to dust off my saturn now lol.

I feel like playing Grim Fandango, haha. Man I'd love to see more great adventure games get the treatment of the PSN (and probably others) Secret of Monkey Island. With The Walking Dead so popular, I think these niche games would find a small market on consoles with a nice coat of paint.

I'd like it, anyways.
