Underrated: From Software mends and destroys worlds on an epic scale

PSU takes a look at game developers that brought us great games this console generation, but didn't get the attention they deserved. (Armored Core: Verdict Day, Culture, Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2, From Software, Industry, PS Vita, PS3, PSP, Xbox 360)

This is a very good article that I completely agree with. FromSoftware deserve a lot more recognition, but at the same time I wouldn't want them to develop a swell head due to that recognition. The Souls series is an absolute masterpiece and one of the greatest series of the entire generation. FromSoftware deserve all the success they can get.

How can this site mention FROM Software and not also make a mention of 3D Dot Game Heroes? Awesome game! Much more underrated than Demon's/Dark Souls and AC.

3D Dot Game heroes is definitely a great game :) But my goal with this series isn't to write about underrated games, my goal is to write about underrated studios and I feel the best way to show off a studio is to show off its most successful games all at once.

You know, a lot of people don't even know that From Software develops Armored Core and Dark Souls. Actually, I have engaged in conversation with many people who are willing to argue that Dark Souls was made by someone else entirely...

But hey :) Thanks for the read, I really appreciate all my readers.

3D Dot Game Heroes is developed by Silicon Studio and From Soft only published it (japan only).

Otogi, Otogi 2. That is all I have to say.

This was a fun read. I certainly am not trying to tell you how to do your articles, but I would love to see a more in depth version of this same thing. From Software has even more great titles that were not mentioned. However thank you for the article it was a great read and much more fun to read then all of the negativity going on here lately.

Haha, I know! They have made sooo many great games like 3D Dot Game Heroes (as mentioned above by dedicatedtogamers). I am a huge From Software fan and I would love to have talked about Tenchu, Otogi and all of the other amazing titles released by them but with articles like these there is a danger of rambling on for too long. So, when I write them I always have to keep my reader in mind. They have to be just long enough so I can make my point and be just short enough so as to not make my readers eyes gloss over :P

Thanks for reading my article though! I appreciate the feedback :) Make sure to read the next issue of underrated this coming Saturday!

Very true! Its a shame so many people have short attention spans and cannot read a long article anymore. Great work love the site!

It makes me happy that Dark Souls was a huge success. I felt that most recent games are lacking unique gameplay, but From Software really brought back old school gaming difficulty. It is probably my favorite game of this generation.

Completely agree.
When i first played Demon Souls it was such a breath of fresh air. I played it two years after it released only because i wanted to see how hard it was, i actually thought the game would be crap, i had a completely different picture of it in my head.

Oh how wrong was I. Those two games are absolute masterpieces and like dragonknight said up top, for me this IS the greatest series this generation and up there among my favorite games ever.
Its ridiculous how many hours i put into Dark Souls, the amount of other games i left halfway thru because of a sudden urge to get back into it.

You can even see its influences already with the "firelinks" in Tomb Raider and Watchdog's' multiplayer seems very similar, which is actually the only reason im excited for that game.

The sad part is we have to wait til March to get our next fix.
