Grading the Big 3 of Gaming – E3 2013 Report Cards

E3 2013 is now in the rear view of the video game industry, but that doesn’t mean gamers and the media won’t be talking about the show for the next couple of months. It was an exciting convention featuring two brand new consoles, a host of amazing looking next-gen gaming experiences, and a handful of creative indie gems. It’s safe to say that each of these categories generated a massive amount of buzz on the show floor, which is exactly why E3 is held each year, and why it can capture the imaginations of the gaming public unlike any other industry event.

I wouldn't say that E3 is the forum to really gauge the performance of MS or Sony. This was the big reveal of the consoles, the games were really secondary here with mostly concepts and topical demonstrations.

Now gamescon and the Tokyo Game Show will be were we really see the gloves come off. The launches will be closer, games will be in later stages of development and the secrecy surrounding many of the features, specs, etc. for both systems will be eased.

Sony didn't really flex their muscle yet IMO, wait till later in the year and I think the Dark Sorcerer trailer we will prove to be a harbinger of things to come.
