I’m a little tired of being a murderer

GamesRadar: "As the medium of gaming grows, developers want to tell increasingly mature stories, the kind of narratives that could rival a great film or novel. Games like BioShock Infinite and The Last of Us created gorgeous worlds that immerse players in emotional journeys that put the protagonists through a series of dramatic revelations and personal transformations. Both those releases pushed the envelope on video game storytelling, taking the medium in the type of new directions I’m excited to play. But those particular games also task players with killing literally hundreds of people, and it’s really starting to wear me down."

Odd how two of the most self-aware games of the generation (in regards to moral issues) get panned for having "too much killing" and yet Gamesradar doesn't get all ethical after the launch of games like God of War, Gears, or Call of Duty.

Yeah.

Last of Us was especially self-aware, basically taking what Spec Ops tried to do and actually do it better.

The ending to The Last of Us.... Enough said.

I guess maybe his point is that instead of having the theme of "murder" and "killing" it would be nice to have more games that avoided those things. You can still have a great action game with a good story where nobody kills each other, potentially.

Okami was about restoration and creation. It shoulda sold better.

RedHawkX1615d ago

lol !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was the funniest thing I ever heard and I've noticed that too. I been murdering people a lot in video games. I only read the headline so I don't know what the article is talking about. Anyways heading to read the article!

But I love the the title though lol!

lnvisibleMan1615d ago

Yeah It be funny if this title popped up outside of a gaming site.

blacktiger1615d ago

then those people desserved to loose friends if you going to post it on facebook or any other site, because they have no idea what you are referring to. However this is video games so we already know he's talking about video games! See GAMESradar.com

"The last of us had brutal violence"

I preordered it but haven't played it yet; however, my sister has been playing it and I can vouch for this statement as all I hear from her room is shrieks, screams, sickening slashes and the sound of other survivors being pounded to death to be left festering in their own resorvoir of blood.

linkenski1615d ago

But the game doesn't rely on "dumb violence" however. It really goes hand in hand with the story unlike in games like Uncharted.

jakmckratos1615d ago

STOP murders become a Pet ABUSER haha, cause you force what technically is an animal to fight until its about to die then you nurse it back to health, but i kid i don't really care its a game lol.

Its just a game if you don't like playing games that kill people play a racing game, puzzle games there are a ton of games that you don't have to kill anybody.
