Okay. Yes. I'm Cautiously Excited For Lightning Returns: FFXIII | Kotaku

Kotaku: "I'm no fan of either FFXIII or FFXIII-2, I am cautiously optimistic about Lightning's third adventure, which comes out in February 2014 for current-gen consoles.

That's because I've played it. I've felt the combat—which is best described as a cross between Final Fantasy X-2 and Kingdom Hearts—and I've wandered through one of the dungeons during a 20-minute demo at E3 last week." (Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, PS3, Xbox 360)

I can't be the only person who actually likes the Fabula Nova series?!

Excited for this one!

well the Fabula nova series was supposed to be FFXIII, VersusXIII(now XV), and type-0 which did not get localized.

BUT I enjoy the XIII series and am excited for this as well.

it has sold over 9.7 million copies and lightning is currently the most popular character in japan, so no, you aren't alone dude

FF13 sold like 7 millions

FF13-2 sold like 2

That's not a good sign. And Japan hates Lightning and the FF13 saga just as much as anybody else. Just compare the sales and read their opinions about it on 2ch.

Am I only one amused that Lightning Returns is seeing more positive reception now that Versus/FFXV has re-announced?

Just does not feel like FF to me :(
CrossingEden  +   490d ago
and yet i swear i've seen you praising ffXV -_-
Snookies12  +   490d ago
Uhhh, because XV looks amazing?

There's one thing which still bothers me about N4G... Ghost-Disagrees which don't want to explain why my comment is in the wrong...

@CrossingEden

FF XV > FF XIII-999999(3)

It's obvious isn't it. No one said your comment was wrong because no one actually thinks it is wrong. The people who disagreed obviously don't have the same opinion you do. That is the definition of disagree. As of right now 4 people think Lightning Returns does indeed feel like an FF game.

It's a shame that Lightning's character was wasted on such a mediocre series of games. It's as though they want to keep making games about her until they finally give her something decent

Did you play XIII-2? It was so much better than XIII in nearly every way. There were some areas where XIII was better, but overall it was a really great RPG.

I actually didn't like Lightning as a character, she just seemed too cold and distant most of the time... My favorite XIII character was Sazh, he seemed the most 'real' out of any of them in terms of personality.

The disagrees obviously didn't play XIII-2. I didn't want to play it myself after XIII. I assumed it would be crappy until I actually gave it a shot. It's much more open with a lot of side stuff you can do. Which was what XIII was severely lacking.

Agreed part 2 was an improvement in almost every way. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. But there are those that no matter what because of its predecessor will still hate it.Personally I'm kind of excited about lightning returns, sounds like it has some very interesting game mechanics.

I disagreed just because I thought 13 was far better than 13-2. 13-2 did have some improvements like npc's, side quests, and I loved some of the interactive cutscene qte's like the intro but I finished 13 and not 13-2. The reason was 13 had a better story, characters, and was well thought out. 13-2 was thrown together, the freedom of choosing time made the game disjointed, the story hurt because of it, and it really would've been better with all new characters and a new ip focused on Noel. It just felt like 13 ended perfectly and this was shoehorned in to cash in.

For all its faults (really there's only the lack of npcs and side quests) 13 was a well made, beautiful game with amazing music, graphics, characters, lore, and gameplay. There just wasn't enough variety, it was story fight, story, fight, fight till next cutscene, story, fight, story, exc. Still the game was exciting (especially the summon fights and some bosses) and really left an impression. Best music since X and wonderful ending.

@Timesplitter14 - Haha, you are right. It always does stay perfect even after all that she went through... She better make sure to give her hair dresser a tip next time she sees them.
