Surprise! Xbox's One-Eighty Not Just For You.

CCC says: "With yesterday’s news of Microsoft reversing their DRM policies for the Xbox One, gamers everywhere celebrated that they saved both their used games and the ability to play offline. But they weren’t the only ones celebrating; you better believe the CEOs of GameStop and GameFly were just as ecstatic."

I am glad the forced on features were removed lets move onto more game stories.

No_Limit1730d ago

Unfortunately, games reviews and stories about developers talking about making games don't get much attention, especially here on N4G, unless it is flamebait reviews like Halo 4 getting a 1/5 or The Last of Us getting a 8 from Gamespot.

Big headlines and outrages claims is what people are attracted to these days, unfortunately.

smashman981730d ago

Only on n4g would the last of us getting an 8 be flamebait

Mr_Nuts1730d ago

Well we still have Kinect forced onto us....thats still a massive issue

YNWA961730d ago

Yeah its time to let it go, enjoy the games, enjoy the kinect whoever uses it, plus the fact every xbox1 has it might mean some decent games made for it....

omi25p1730d ago

Yeah its designed to spy on us all!

I know what il be doing come launch of the X1

"I know what il be doing come launch of the X1
[Pictures of tin foil hats]"

You do know that some people don't want to pay an extra $100 for that gimmick, right? And that Microsoft was the first to volunteer for PRISM, which would allow the government access to ANY media that Microsoft gathers, if they decide something is "suspicious" (as little as the wrong Bing search words)?

PositiveEmotions1730d ago

And its all thanks to sony :)

KingPin1730d ago

thanks to sony and everyone who refused to accept MS bullsh1t venting out loud not in silence.

"Why go first, when your competitors can look at your specifications and come up with something better?" - Kazuo Genius Hirai

That my friend was the classic statement Kaz Hirai made at CES 2013 and M$ fell for it.

Then come February ... BOOM!

Surprise Surprise! PS4 Reveal!

The Kazification gifs are hints of what insiders know what is happening in the corporate spy games.

And on the back of it all Sony let M$ copy the WRONG PS4!

With all the PS4 PSEye bundle decoy.

And the rest went according to plan at E3.

And this is just the beginning.

Sony came prepared since 2008.

Now who is smarter and wiser? M$ or Sony?

More M$ ass whopping coming your way.

UNGR1730d ago

Sony hasn't done anything, they just kept walking down the same road, with paid multiplayer. Microsoft messed up, it doesn't mean you should go circle jerk Sony because they maintained the status quo. Fans rejected the idea, Sony did nothing, the fans did everything.

PositiveEmotions1730d ago (Edited 1730d ago )

I dont think it was the fans ms had to do a 180 because ms was jealous of the fact that sony was wooping their ass heck their still wooping their ass in price range and pre orders as well

S2Killinit1730d ago

no if Sony had gone with the same policies then Microsoft wouldn't have been forced to reverse their authoritarian policies. Lets give credit where credit is due. It was Sony's decision PLUS the fans who said hell no we wont go.

xXBlondieVanHarlowXx1730d ago (Edited 1730d ago )

eeeeeeeh wrong. Fans cried & groveled at M$'s feet seconds after the XBone was announce. And continued to do so until E3. M$ ignored them until they saw their pre-orders dirt low in comparison to the Ps4.

So no, it wasn't Sony (directly), it wasn't the fans (directly), it was $_$

miyamoto1730d ago

Sony Played with M$ like a toy.

Pure and Simple.
Thats what they did.

Everything went according to plan.

VonBraunschweigg1730d ago

Give it time, say untill Gamescon or TGS where Sony will anounce a nifty little feature on PS4 called...

Family sharing

Yeah we had this idea where you can select up to 10 friends and bla bla bla:)

That would be cool.

it was MONEY, the only thing microsoft cares about,.. they saw how dismal their pre-sales were and thought maybe dropping DRM , might help.. Wrong.. Consumers have no trust in microsoft, rightfully so.

UNGR is right, to a degree. MS changed their policies because they saw those piss poor pre-orders and the fan outrage. SONY weren't the ones pre-ordering consoles, fans were. If Microsoft's pre-orders were high enough, it wouldn't have mattered if Sony had DRM or not, they would have kept their policies.

MysticStrummer1730d ago

Sony weren't the ones pre-ordering consoles, but they made a product that people wanted more than Microsoft's. They were rumored to be going the same route as MS with DRM but when it turned out that they didn't, MS saw the writing on the wall. Sony does deserve some credit.

vikingland11730d ago

And Gamestop and Gamefly and gaming fans.

GamersRulz1730d ago

well Gamestop has the right to celebrate, MS almost ruined their entire business. they were in the offensive though, they stopped taking X1 pre-orders and were planning to push PS4 like crazy.

sway_z1730d ago

These articles are becoming very stale....let's move on, it's all about the games now. Thank You.

NihonjinChick1730d ago

Why did the author feel the need to point out that Remember Me had a minority lead character?

What does that have to do with choosing to rent a game over buying it?
