This article is the first of a three-part series dealing with women in gaming. This particular article discusses the harassments female gamers experience, using Shannon Sun-Higginson’s GTFO: A Film About Women in Gaming as a foundation.
So sick of these articles, what is wrong with games representing the truth about the real world around us? How is tackling gaming going to change sexism? Dumbest shit ever. All this free porn everywhere, adult video stores around every corner, strip clubs everywhere, escort services everywhere... and you guys think gaming is the problem. Then you have these fucking KY and Trojan commercials playing daily literally selling vibrators and sex lube on national television for tons of children to see, literally practically showing people rolling around in bed with each other... and yea gaming is a problem... Seriously get the fuck out of here with that crap and I hate to be so vulgar with the language but man this is stupid already. Huge pet peeve of mine is people worrying about the most petty stuff then ignoring every bigger issue out there..
To solve this problem mothers here is what you need to do. Next time your child is playing a game online just go in there and slap the shit outta him because he's probably calling everyone, not just women, foul things.
"The following quote takes the cake: “Do you live on a chicken farm? Because you sure know how to raise c---ks.” This had me laughing. I don't care about some of the comments I get online. If I get annoyed I just mute them, problem solved.
I dunno about you guys, or this article, but that pink PSP strangely looks badass. I don't care for pink, but I really like it here.
It's made from strawberry Starburst candy.
A couple of years ago there used to be a big deal about girl gamers. I just don't see it now. Girl gamers are every where. Sure they get some lip, but it's no different than guy gamers get. No need for a three part series on a web site to create a giant click fest!
I think sexism is more of a symptom of our culture than a gaming-specific issue. None the less, I don't think the documentary will necessarily be a bad thing. It might highlight some interesting points? I really hope they try to make the documentary lighthearted instead of an intense "the reapers are coming!" method. I didn't buy a 360 back in the days when I was a teen because I was scared of all the frat boys telling me to get back in the kitchen. Nowadays, though, I play my friends' xboxes every now and then, just to listen to it because you have to admit some of those guys are hilarious! I mean. MAN. Some days you're like "Why didn't I think of that?!" I'd say if anything is annoying it's when guys assume you're a casual gamer just because you're a chick, but I always think "your loss!" I mean, isn't the world a better place when you can share your Zelda timeline theories with the ladies too?
I definitely agree it is a symptom of our culture rather than gaming specific. Unfortunately, our culture made gaming into a boys club when we should be welcoming the ladies for enriching and expanding our hobby rather than trying to drive them off with asinine comments.
