Your Xbox One Has Been Downgraded

And people are all the happier for it. Always online and used game sales are a hot topic right now. Partly perpetuated by the FUD being spread and picked up by the internet at large. The majority of the people didn't and still don't understand the changes that Microsoft were trying to implement. They just heard "always online" and "no used game sales" and came out with the pitchforks. (Industry, Microsoft, Xbox LIVE, Xbox One)

They should of eased into it instead of doing a full frontal assault on full DRM and no used games. Steam is getting closer to what Microsoft tried to achieve because Valve did the transition correctly. PC Gamers will be enjoying lending/trading digital games soon according to recent leaks and Microsoft's failure to do it correctly has set consoles back another few years behind PC.

If microsoft would of done 2 week check ins like Steam does but still offer used games at first it would of went a lot smoother. They could of easily done used games by doing code deactivation where you put your disk in your console you yell at your kinect I don't want this piece of s*** anymore and it would restore the disk's original key.

Steam will get it done right and microsoft will try to follow.Look what happens when MS tries to lead by example in a new forefront.

A complete, utter, disaster.

I have no doubt they will "flip the switch" again in a few years (maybe sooner) and bring all this DRM craziness back.It would be a simple matter of accepting the new terms and conditions, or not play online anymore.

I don't understand why they couldn't convey such a simple message and show the benefits to people. By the time they actually started to care the damage had been done. Craziness.

@hardknock it's because they were cocky like Sony in 2006. The thought that people would just "handle it" and accept it. MS only started to care was when Sony was beating the life out if them.

I would like if they do give us an option to have digital copy with a 24 hour check and family plan. For the people that want disk based game they just don't sign up for the benefits of digital copy, this way it would be a win win for all of us...

They weren't really doing it wrong to be honest. It was just no one wanted to do the research to figure out what was right. And on one hand they shouldn't of had to. It's microsofts job to convey how awesome it is and they failed. In reality what they had planned was great!! Being able to share games of the digital kind with up to ten people was amazing. And it still played used games and the 24 hour check in could be been done with a phone.

I think what they should do is make an opt in program for people who don't care. It doesn't seem that hard to be honest. I'm disappointed they back pedaled because now we aren't moving forward we are stagnant again for years to come. It's a shame that it's like this. I want forward thinking and here we had it. But because people were afraid of change it didn't happen. Hopefully down the road they update it.

MS did everything wrong from the beginning and it was obvious they didn't have a clear vision because they retracted very fast and they couldn't even explain the benefits in a way that anybody could understand it. They just kept changing and twisting and then claiming that policies weren't finalized etc. It's all their fault that things ended like this and I think is better this way.

It's better for people who like to resell games but for those who like digital games this is noticeably worse.

They should give people the option for digital games that you can use on family share a feature that i was looking forward to and now thats been ruined.

that why am going to wait until both consoles released and can see the benefits of both, hold the controllers to see which one I like the best. see if their is a real difference in graphics on 3rd party games, Then all this dust can settle and I can make a customer decision on which one will be best for me as a gamer and a family...
