State of Decay Review | The Game Scouts

Tin Salamunic: My first few minutes of playing State of Decay were filled with confusion, rage, and astonishment. I was confused that a game so visually archaic was coming out in 2013, I was enraged at the sluggish framerate which made even the basic movement feel sloppy…and I was astonished that thirty minutes later I couldn’t put the controller down. On the surface, State of Decay comes off as a GTA/Left 4 Dead hybrid, but its RPG elements and brilliant concepts make it feel more like a survival simulator than a typical action game. I’m 20+ hours in and I still can’t pull myself away from its immersive world. State of Decay may not be a looker, but it’s the closest you’ll come to feeling like you’re in the midst of a Walking Dead TV episode.
