It sounds like PC gamers may face a bit of a wait for true next-gen FIFA to be released on PC.
Wtf the new consoles have the specs of a low to mid end pc so wtf
You can't compare console specs and pc specs. It doesn't work like that. Consoles are made for basically just gaming, pcs are made for doing many things at the same time.
You clearly haven't seen the Xbone reveal and in this upcoming GEN you CAN compare console specs and pc specs since they contain the same architecture. You wont see the low level optimizations until 2-3 years after the consoles have launched. Until then consoles games will basicly be PC games with lower graphics settings.
Have you heard of a gaming pc? the new consoles are basiclly PCs with the new x86 chip. most gaming pcs are more powerful than the ps4 any day long
That's only partially true. Xbox had architecture like a PC. An 8800GTX still ****ing annihilates the 360. Optimization did **** all basically. Thus proving that depending on how easy a console is to develop for...optimization doesn't do much. Ps4 and Xbone are very easy to dev for and are straightforward PC hardware. Besides the Ps4's GDDR5 which doesn't really matter/ Optimization is basically extremely overrated. Especially for next gen. You can always compare the hardware. Hardware is hardware. Anything that gets optimized for the Next gen hardware will automatically be optimized for PC. Why? Because the hardware is so similar. That's why it'll be very easy to port games from one system to another next gen. Don't bother with EA either. You know how they are. Any gaming PC from the last 4 years should be fine with Fifa, could lower the settings if not/ Wow, you just showed how ignorant you are of hardware too Maria...well..i'm not surprised. You know GPU's do most of the work when it comes to gaming in PC's right? You know next gen consoles are the same way right? There's a reason the CPU's in the next gen consoles are so weak. Standard PC's(not even gaming ones) of today have generally much better Cpu's than them, you know...for doing the rest of a Pc's features.
You can without a doubt next gen compare PC and Console specs because the consoles are (mostly) just downgraded (both the Sony and MS machines are running watered down 7970m parts from AMD) off the shelf parts. The real reason is probably pressure from both MS and Sony to not release just a highly popular title on the PC so that fans are forced to buy a new console in order to play.
PS4 = TRUE NEXT GEN PC = old gen -_-
"most gaming pcs are more powerful than the ps4" Fine, but how many PCs that have games played on them are "gaming PCs"? The answer is comparatively few. That's what PC gamers refuse to acknowledge. Far more PC games are being played on older stock hardware than on upgraded hardware. Consoles have more standardized hardware, which is better for developers to work on.
There are a lot of things about these consoles that are not directly comparable on PC. For instance, in PS4 the CPU has a direct bus to the GPU, and does not have to rely on PCI express to communicate. They are on the same chip, with a bus wired directly between the two. This enables the CPU and GPU to aid each other in ways not possible on PC. PS4's GPU also can have up to 64 sources of compute commands vs. only 2 on PC. Then there's the fact that, due to unified memory, if the CPU and GPU want to work on the same bit of data, they don't have to wait for a copy of that data to be made in their local pool of RAM first. There is no doubt that one could assemble a PC that was capable of smoking a PS4 in raw power. A top-end i7, 32GB of RAM, and a titan would do the trick nicely. However, you will never get a PC that can perform as good as a PS4 for as cheap as a PS4 sells for. You'd have to spend a good bit more to build a comparable machine, when you take all the advantages above plus the advantage of PS4 being a closed platform specifically for gaming into account. Then you have to consider this article. Developers on PC cater to the lowest common denominator in hardware power. They have to, as a very small percentage of PCs out there have high end gaming hardware in them. It severely limits their install base if they cater to the high end. So, the vast majority of developers on PC don't, and that's why you see consoles typically leading the charge when it comes to new innovations in graphics, etc. It usually isn't until late in the console generation that the PC games begin to show their true advantages over the console versions. By true advantage, I mean more than just running the same game at a higher resolution or framerate.
Planetside 2 is a PC game on max settings port and it's a PS4 launch/launch window game. Things are looking good for next gen. http://n4g.com/news/1282953...
Well, you're probably right. Found this. "The PS4 sees Sony move to a 64-bit x86 chip architecture, which will be music to the ears of developers, especially those used to working on PC games. The good news doesn’t stop there, though. Developers will be able to take advantage of Microsoft’s latest industry standard DirectX API — DirectX 11.1, but Sony has taken the time to improve upon it, pushing the feature set beyond what is available for PC games development." http://www.geek.com/games/s... Ps4 will prevail!
there it is... people from the horse's (the term i would love to use is "ass'") mouth. not every freaking pc is a gaming machine. even EA is saying that. "...the lion's share of PCs on the marketplace could not.." "The majority of the gamer base that was playing the game on PC did not have a PC spec that would work with that."
That's stupid. I guess none of the ps4 or xbone games will be released on PC then since pc can't handle them.
"You can't compare console specs and pc specs. It doesn't work like that. Consoles are made for basically just gaming, pcs are made for doing many things at the same time" consoles are made for doing many things too, pc's are just better at multitasking you can directly compare console and pc this gen coming up, since ps4 and xboxone are just basically mid-spec pc's
I hate to break it too you, but it seem not as many people as you thought have high end PCs. Thats not necessarily something to get upset out. EAs clearly being little bitchy about the PC thing, but they always are. Is this really a surprise?
I'm a die hard PC gamer, with a high end system, and anyone who actually uses a PC should know this. Yes, PCs are expensive to upkeep. But to me they are way more worth it. Just looking at Steam hardware specs, most people don't even have a dedicated graphics card. I believe this is why Indie games are so damn popular on PC. Also a good majority have very old hardware, some from over 5 years ago. This is the sad reality, if every PC gamer had a high end PC, we'd see more amazing games. But it isn't the reality. We can just wait for pure cloud gaming where no one has a console anymore, just games streamed to from servers.
lol the funny thing my brother have 4 years old laptop and he can max out FIFA 13 keep in mind it's a laptop. BTW how do i have 5 bubbles last time i checked it was 1 lol
Everyone was given 5 back when E3 started, I believe they're getting rid of the bubble system soon too :)
Seriously I think it's because more PC Gamers prefer Football Manager than FIFA. I'm sure there are some FIFA PC Gamers out there that are upset but Football Manager is waaaaay more popular on the PC than Fifa. Low PC specs excuse is LAME. PS4 and XboxOne ARE Low end PC's which is why ALL BF4 Demos at E3 were run on PC's.
EA Believes they will lose sales if they upgrade the engine. They have not optimized it yet and don't plan on doing it apparently. If they did they could scale it from low end PCs up to High end just fine. EA believes the PC version will look just the same as Xb1, and PS4 version anyway so they see no need to upgrade the PC version to look better just yet. They are just trying to save money. Like they are that worried about losing it.
Yeah a bunch of major developers have already come out and bashed this statement including Mark Rein. Not hard to figure out the PC reigns supreme in terms of power.
Fifa is worldwide and around the world....outside of US, a lot of people have low spec computers because they can't afford to get a new one every 4-5 years. Fifa isn't just for us in the US, it's more popular elsewhere actually. Good thing is....a lot of those people have PS2, which I think Fifa is still releasing on.
You forget most people with gaming pcs who will buy fifa have the same or better specs than the new consoles
EA has been making excuses to leave the PC platform for years now. this is just another excuse
Its a god damn joke really as I been playing FIFA on PC at 1080p 60FPS on my PC for a couple of years now with no problems. They are just making excuses and abandoning it due to bad sales like they did with NHL.
the hell? my brother's gonna be pissed. then again, he keeps going on about jumping ship to PES. so maybe this will seal the deal
On a side note, PES games kinda screw up bad sometimes though.
EA is being like the partner who breaks up and then asks to remain friends lol.
Another laughable excuse, an i3 and low-mid range GPU could run a PS4/Xbone game.
i doubt you can run it elegantly, maybe on low specs sure. you can also run crysis on a pentium 2 and 256MB of RAM. you just lose lots of functionality.
PS4/Xbone CPU is pants by PC standards, a dual core 1.6Ghz Bobcat (E350) is about 4 times slower than a 2.8Ghz Pentium dual core, so an 8 core Bobcat is only going to have roughly the same processing power. Here have a look yourself: http://www.anandtech.com/be...
That's a cute joke.
What the heck ? A basic mid range laptop can run Fifa 13 at ultra with at least 130 fps
But battlefield is on pc and that is demanding I don't get it.
If you look at the Steam PC survey, then the average PC is a dual core with onboard intel gfx. So if you want to swim in money in your vault with a big dollar sign on the side, then it's probably best to make the game work on average PCs. Remember the argument of "I live in America, have a fast internet connection and own a PC that'll make ILM blush, therefore everyone lives in America and owns these things" is fallacious.
why does the spec of an average PC matter? a lot of these are laptops that are never meant for gaming. I have a gaming PC but also have a laptop that I only use for older games. there are more PS2's than PS3's so should developers make more PS2 games?
Now that you mention it, Fifa 14 is coming to the PS2. Goes back to that whole money vault thing.
That would be relevant if Fifa was on steam, but it's not so your comment is irrelevant. This is just EA making an excuse as always, a lot of people will be jumping ship to PES (i will be one of them)
It would be irrelevant if the Steam survey is not indicative of the average PC of people who play games. You are implying that people who play Fifa is in a totally different PC demographic. If you can provide evidence that the 0.29m people who bought the PC version of Fifa 13 is in another demographic, then go ahead.
It's odd seeing this coming from EA.. ask Dice, PC gamers ate BF3 up and that game is gorgeous. Don't they plan on releasing BF4 for the PC as well? I don't get it..
Does Fifa 2013 not use the frost bite engine that BF3 uses ? i could of sworn i read that somewhere.
Nope they only used Dice's animations for sports games
Low-Spec? Only if its your PC EA.
explain battlefield 3/battlefield 4/ crysis 3 then. seriously EA f##k you and origin
It only makes sense seeing how EA basically refuses to release any of their other major sports franchises for the PC - why release soccer for the platform? Personally, I wish they'd put Madden on the PC, but I'm not that upset about it.
would be better if PES got all the licences instead of EA :S
I know it doesn't make any sense, but if they could allow PES to have the licenses for PC releases, it would be great - but I guess that'll never happen, hah. Has EA ever come out and explained why their sports lines just stopped appearing? I mean, with Origin, it's not like they'd have to spend a lot of money on producing a physical product. Do they really think there are that few sports fans on PC? :/
it is so they buy the consoles i would imagine
I hope to god the new PES is good because I'm sick and tired of EA, they believe we're all f*cking retards. It's not great that the next FIFA isn't coming to PC, but its understandable especially when it comes around the launch window of a new a generation of console - here's the simple truth everyone, FIFA is one of the biggest titles in the world, it helps sell hardware. Not releasing on PC gives you more reason to buy a console. Couldn't they just word this in a more pleasant way rather than insult our intelligence? PCs not powerful enough to run Ignite!? Please, shoot me.
i have never seen two companies get raped at the same time - MS and EA. MS for their Xbox one and EA for their dog and fishes. and of all the days, they had to present it jointly. lol.
They just don't like to release yearly sports games on pc because of the roster update mods, I think the last Madden on pc i think is '07, you can still get roster update mods for every year
Fifa 14 is coming to ps2 and wii !
Erm............It's called SETTINGS!
Dont care i would never Play fifa on Pc im getting it on Ps4. My Pc is for BF and Starcraft, sims..... Thats just me tho
I didn't click on the article but the title made me laugh and shoot pop through my nose. I prefer consoles for other reasons but to say PCs don't have the power is a pretty big statement considering some have gaming rigs
They did the same thing with current gen of fifa, then suddenly everybody upgrade their pcs and they realeased same console version of fifa on the pc. I think is pressure from Ms and Sony to mantain fifa series to be played more on console than pcs seeing how pc gaming market is growing. Dont worry This is just 1 next gen multiplatform game to be forced to have an inferior version for the pc The rest thousands of multiplatform next gen games will have better Graphics and will run better on the pc!
yes an i7 surely does outperform ps4 cpu. even an i5 outperforms ps4 cpu. but it doesnt matter since: in most cases devs have to dumb down the graphics, not because of cpu,but because of gpu. =>hardly will any guy notice big diff in fps when he switches from a $200 i5 3570 to $1000 i7 3960x so in short cpu doesnt matter as long as its decent. what matters is the gpu. now any bitch who says that 8 GB gddr5 1.84 tflops gpu is not good enough or low-mid end is just retarded. plus its not gonna have a heavy os like windows eating up large resources. its just sad when pc gamers say that an i3 + a low-mid gpu can run a ps4/xbone game.not only it sounds lame,it is. whats more sensible thing to say is that nvidia titan will give extra ¬10fps than next gen consoles.
That gpu is basically a radeon 7850, which costs about $160 right now, how is that not low-mid end? If you call that high end what do you call the 8.2 tflops Radeon 7990 that is 4-5 times more powerful?
going by your theory, there are only two high end gpus in the world: 1.titan 2.7990 you know whats low end? gt 610,gt 630,gt 210,hd 6670,hd 7750 etc. just because you people feel better classifying gpus having more than 1 tflops of power as "low-mid" end doesnt change what they actually are. edit: btw where did you find a 7850 with 8 GB GDDR5 ram? that $160 7850 you mentioned has like 2 GB of it,such a diff does matter.i would much rather have 2 tflops with 8 GB of GDDR5 ram than a 4 tflops with 2 GB of it.(not that 7850 has more tflops than ps4 gpu)
^^^. Look, google "amd range 7850" and see how review sites classify that card, nobody calls it high end, and most of these reviews are from 2012, you tell me what you would call 7850 in amd's current lineup of 7990-7750. And the ram on the card is dedicated just to video, ps4's 8GB has to be shared with CPU and os
a 2.4 tflops gtx 670 gets classified as high end, while the the 7850 (1.7 tflops) as mid range. as ps4 gpu is 1.84 tflops. i could care less about a diff of 573.44 gflops and how reviewing sites get the authority to set bar for what is mid range and what is high end.its almost as if high or mid range gets decided on the basis of price. ps4 is gonna perform better than the "high end" gtx 670 at the end of the day. no one cares about theoretical performance anyway. (notice how both ps4 and gtx 670 had the same launch price $399) yes i do realise that memory in ps4 is shared but still gpu will get much more than 2GB.
People won't notice the difference because an i5 performs as well as an i7 in gaming. It's only in other programs does and i7 matter. BUT there is a significant difference from a decent cpu to a good cpu. Try switching back and forth from a AMD II x4 to an i7/i5 and you'll see the difference. I even downgraded my GPU slightly and this system runs games much better since I can turn on dynamic lighting whatnot.
How many play FIFA on PC anyway?
I practice FIFA on PC and then play on consoles when I am at a friends house.
most PCs (%98) aren’t as powerful as PS4/xbox one
yep pc elites dont realize there a tiny minority
Just like all the fan boys on N4G not realizing they are the smallest minority in the grand scheme of things.
True, most PCs aren't but the 98% statistic was pulled out of your arse.
