Tips For Playing The Last of Us

Kotaku - Naughty Dog's much-anticipated (and excellent) action/horror game The Last of Us is fairly straightforward: Keep moving and try not to die. But between the various upgrade trees, the open-ended combat and the crafting system, we thought it would be helpful to offer some tips.

The story is too old to be commented.

I need tips on how to not panic when things go wrong.

I had one tips when things go wrong:

Run like hell XD

Lol that's what I do. Run away and cower in a corner somewhere hoping the clicks get quieter and not louder. What I found helps a lot is to use the listening mechanic a lot. It really does help you plan your attacks./ thread

When u panic or just feel overwhelmed? "PAUSE the game", go stand in front of a mirror and say..... "Its just a game". There will be times that may come in handy. ;-)

A couple times I had to just pause the game to gather myself.

Pausing the game feels a bit like cheating, a bit like how people consider "listen mode" as cheating.

And I'm not saying panicking isn't fun :) in this situation at least

Disable listening-mode is my tip. Makes the experience so much more intense.

That's the best comment for sure. This is the type of game that need to be difficult and must be played with the minimum help...

The more scariest, the better

At the expense of not reading the article:

USE THE BOW!!!! It's quiet and a 1 hit kill on unsuspecting targets.

Upgrade the holsters first, nothing like quick switching your weapons. You don't want to rummage through your bag when in a firefight.

Scavenge Everything!!

Run, Duck, Distract..Rinse and Repeat

Hey, how do you know my strategy?! j/k :P

Yup and don't forget to stock molotov & nail bombs. They're very effective when dealing with enemies on big numbers.

The only tip: shotgun.

It's surprisingly weak.

On Hard difficulty, I leaned over a bar top and shot an un-armoured guy almost point-blank and he just stumbled. Next shot took his arm and leg off though.

Headshots never fail with a pistol. You just need to reduce the sway for it to be reliable.
