That's why i don't really care about digital it brings no Benefit . Unless the digital is $10-$15 cheaper then i don't care about digital

NioRide1981d ago

It does on PC, this is why it makes no sense why it shouldn't be cheaper on console.

Of course, that's also because they do not have competition on the console, their system, their rules.

Its not cheaper on Pc either unless its a sale on Steam .

NioRide1980d ago

That's still cheaper when a steam sale comes, And that is at least 4 times a year. And usually 25-50% off a new title. Sometimes more.

Well I'm glad that DRM is going to be used to lower the cost of digital games. /s

I'm surprised the digital version will cost as much as physical media. The hard costs associated with digital are just so much lower (no production, packaging, shipping, etc.) that it seems flat-out wrong to charge the same amount for a digital game.

I dont usually buy new games from the PSN, but I picked up The Last of Us for £39.99 on the PSN yesterday, most other games like Grid 2 and Remember Me are £57.99.

Why I buy digital on PS3:

- It's cheaper. No tax helps, too. ;)
- My brother can download the game on his PS3, as well. We split the cost of every game.

Wish I had a brother like you

:) Here's a bubble. It's the least I can do. (Literally)

I have 5 brothers and no one want to share lol. The worst part is that my little brother don't want to buy digital because he just don't want to download.

The game will cost him 70$ for disc. digital only 30$. He can pay 10$ to unlimited download in weekend = 40$

Plus , i have like 30 full games in my account to download for free . But he's too stubborn when i talk to him , so it's his lost.. lol

I still like my disc based games, they look good in my collection and they come with a cool booklet. Except COD, the Black and White 2 page instruction manual blows. With all the money they make you would figure they could a afford a proper color instruction manual. The best games in my collection are the ones published by Sony. Double sided game sleeves and color manuals. I liked that they put a little more effort in to the presentation.

Correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure Digital downloadable games were the same as retail this gen too.

I think the reason this is shocking is because everyone thought that maybe with all the rights and policies Microsoft are subjecting Xbox fans to, that they would give them a silver lining, and that is cheaper games. Especially when Microsoft is claiming they are trying to mimic steam.

People shouldn't have ever got their hopes up, you can tell how Microsoft handles digital by looking at their 360 digital store. No surprise here.

No, but what micro are giving X1 owners is alot more convenient way to SHARE games....I dont know anyone who shares his games normally with more than 2 or 3 people outside of his home, but now I can easily share all my games with my 2 nephews on the east coast from where I live in Cali on the same day, anytime. This is huge for me because my sister hardly ever buys my nephews games(tight budget) just on birthdays or Christmas so in the past alot of times Id purchase 2 copies and mail them one, wow so now I no longer need to do that.

People buying into this sharing thing are being suckered. At first Sony offered 5 shares on digital content on the PS3. And when sharing groups showed up developers wanted that axed so they had to cut it down to 2. There is no way this sharing thing is as sweet as Microsoft is claiming it is, or if it is out the gate, it won't be for long. Just look at Microsoft's track record, never in the history of Microsoftom have they ever been that generous.
