In an email, a Microsoft representative said "I can confirm that Microsoft Studios games on Xbox One will be $59.99 (MSRP)."
That's why i don't really care about digital it brings no Benefit . Unless the digital is $10-$15 cheaper then i don't care about digital
It does on PC, this is why it makes no sense why it shouldn't be cheaper on console. Of course, that's also because they do not have competition on the console, their system, their rules.
Its not cheaper on Pc either unless its a sale on Steam .
That's still cheaper when a steam sale comes, And that is at least 4 times a year. And usually 25-50% off a new title. Sometimes more.
Well I'm glad that DRM is going to be used to lower the cost of digital games. /s
I'm surprised the digital version will cost as much as physical media. The hard costs associated with digital are just so much lower (no production, packaging, shipping, etc.) that it seems flat-out wrong to charge the same amount for a digital game.
I dont usually buy new games from the PSN, but I picked up The Last of Us for £39.99 on the PSN yesterday, most other games like Grid 2 and Remember Me are £57.99.
Why I buy digital on PS3: - It's cheaper. No tax helps, too. ;) - My brother can download the game on his PS3, as well. We split the cost of every game.
Wish I had a brother like you
:) Here's a bubble. It's the least I can do. (Literally)
I have 5 brothers and no one want to share lol. The worst part is that my little brother don't want to buy digital because he just don't want to download. The game will cost him 70$ for disc. digital only 30$. He can pay 10$ to unlimited download in weekend = 40$ Plus , i have like 30 full games in my account to download for free . But he's too stubborn when i talk to him , so it's his lost.. lol
I still like my disc based games, they look good in my collection and they come with a cool booklet. Except COD, the Black and White 2 page instruction manual blows. With all the money they make you would figure they could a afford a proper color instruction manual. The best games in my collection are the ones published by Sony. Double sided game sleeves and color manuals. I liked that they put a little more effort in to the presentation. Correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure Digital downloadable games were the same as retail this gen too.
I think the reason this is shocking is because everyone thought that maybe with all the rights and policies Microsoft are subjecting Xbox fans to, that they would give them a silver lining, and that is cheaper games. Especially when Microsoft is claiming they are trying to mimic steam. People shouldn't have ever got their hopes up, you can tell how Microsoft handles digital by looking at their 360 digital store. No surprise here.
No, but what micro are giving X1 owners is alot more convenient way to SHARE games....I dont know anyone who shares his games normally with more than 2 or 3 people outside of his home, but now I can easily share all my games with my 2 nephews on the east coast from where I live in Cali on the same day, anytime. This is huge for me because my sister hardly ever buys my nephews games(tight budget) just on birthdays or Christmas so in the past alot of times Id purchase 2 copies and mail them one, wow so now I no longer need to do that.
People buying into this sharing thing are being suckered. At first Sony offered 5 shares on digital content on the PS3. And when sharing groups showed up developers wanted that axed so they had to cut it down to 2. There is no way this sharing thing is as sweet as Microsoft is claiming it is, or if it is out the gate, it won't be for long. Just look at Microsoft's track record, never in the history of Microsoftom have they ever been that generous.
$ 60 bucks and you dont actually own it, wow what a great deal, well if youre stupid enough to buy the XBone in the first place..
all games are avaliable on ps4 digitaly day 1, are they cheaper or you just drinking sonylaid today
They are cheaper on PS3/Vita, most of the time. No tax either!
microsoft can give new things to his customers but when they to charged for something never gonna a give for lower o free.
This console is dead in the water. Even Sony understood this with the vita, digital games must be discounted... Hopefully this passes on with the ps4
Uuh I think you have your information twisted. Vita digital sales are extremely high because they are $5-10 cheaper than retail and they load faster off the memory card. And with ps+ many games fall bellow $20. AC3 liberation is still $30+ physical but with PS+ the game is $15 digitally. The Vita's issue is it need to be advertised and needs even more games to shut people up.
How is his information twisted? He said exactly what you did.
Loops your right. I re read it and he said discounted not discontinued.....
but this isnt about the vita its about x1 and ps4 and both will have 60 dollar digital games unless you can see the future
True, they did learn many things from the vita. People just want to play , they don't want restrictions. However , that made the vita a victim in my point of view. Sony when the vita released : Me : Can the vita do this ?. Sony : Yes , but. On ps4 there is no but. X1 is full of but's . lol
Where does the article actually confirm digital will be same price? “I can confirm that Microsoft Studios games on Xbox One will be $59.99 (MSRP).” This doesn't directly mention digital, just MS studios games? Not that I'm not expecting them to be but this genuinely doesn't sound like true confirmation to me.
Every time I bought digital on the Vita the price is always slightly lower than physical copies. The difference might only be 5€ less but at least its lower. I don't understand why Microsoft doesn't do the same with the Xbox One because in my opinion digital should always be cheaper than physical especially in the case of Microsoft and their DRM system. Motorola RAZR i
I still believe that digital copies should NEVER cost the same as the physical copy.
Steam blows XboxOne out of the water.. and that's just a games service.
why is every other post going on and on how this is crazy, are ps4 digital day one full games any cheaper, no they are not, lets stop with the sonylaid. its getting you kids high
Take your lame tired jokes to 4chan.
you mean as lame and tired as the crap spewing from sony bots all day and night, like that you mean>?
Loving that attitude. "I don't like what you have to say, so go away"
He's already used this joke. Once before in this thread, this should be counted as a double post.
For those who're expecting to share an online multiplayer game with 9-10 others. It ain't happening.
They save so much money on digital distribution & they cant even knock off a few bucks?? Screw that! Im hating M$ more & more as i see how effin greedy they are.. Not getting any of my damn money
I can't wait to rent all those 60$ game from MS there is no words that can explain this stupidity.
"$59.99 Whether Disc-Based or Digital" thieving bastards.
DD in PSN Asia Store (S'pore reg.) is surprisingly cheaper than retail version (at least on my local store).
Nothing new really about no difference in price. Just look at price of grid 2 on psn £47.99 yet GAME, who are quite possible the most expensive high street retailer are selling the same disc version for £34.99. downloads have always been a ripoff for the console. bigger profit margin is all they see
I didn't see where it said disc based or digital
Everyone here needs to understand that Microsoft can't have digital games be cheaper at launch because then barely nobody would buy actual disks in stores. The reason this is a problem is because retailers really only make money off of software so they'd have no reason to carry the hardware.
Microsoft: trust us, getting rid of used games will decrease the price.
Missed those days when games were just $49.99... Microsoft was the one who increase the game prices to $10 with their Xbox360 and Sony had to implement it forcefully
Ohhh it's over. $59.99 MSRP That's too high for the market, consumers aren't used to paying that much for a game. It's over! lol...
You mean consumers that haven't played video games long enough aren't used to paying $59.99. That price was more or less what Nintendo and Sega fans paid 20 years ago, especially for 3rd-party games.
are you retarded... lol
@ PerryCaravello No. And I presume you're too young to remember the 16-bit era when a lot of games costed $50-60 or more. There was no standardized pricing model. And most games barely lasted 3 hours at best. This generation sold more software at its current $60 price than any previous generation at supposedly lower price points, in the face of a bad economy.
PC gamers still have this problem now and there hasn't been used sales on PC for years. Take, for instance, Company of Heroes 2. Its a £40 digital game but costs £26-30 for a retail boxed copy. None of the publishers have taken on board digital downloads should cost less as there is no box or import tax. They'll just price gouge till the system collapses in on itself. Whatever price you pay for digital sales now is what you'll pay on launch for Xbone and PS4. Get used to it. i.e £50-55 isn't it? The only way PC gamers get cheaper digital downloads is to shop around and look for discount coupons on GMG or wait for the sales on steam/gog/gamersgate etc.
To be fair, the ps3 has always charged loads for the digital version on PSN which has always annoyed me. They do eventually come down in price, but always overpriced at first. There must be something that hikes the price of a digital version? perhaps i'm ignorant and ill informed. 4<1
Gotta laugh at this site. Lets not forget Sony are at it too. I turned my PS3 on to play TLOU yesterday & couldn't believe my eyes. I paid £17-99 for Grid2 on PC, it is, wait for it £47-99 on PSN, so is Metro last light...are you taking the piss. C'mon now, lets all admit its not just X1 that's gonna rip you off. The more I read about both consoles, the more I'm sticking with PC. We still get the better looking games for a fraction of the price.. £47-99 for a jaggie mess, do me a favour.
