Why The Last of Us is the opposite of Uncharted

The Last of Us, meanwhile, has had 13 hours to impress me, and it has taken advantage. Its singular attention to character and storytelling is at odds with other games, including the studio's own, but as an example of how developers at the peak of their powers can turn genre work away from an easy route and toward something more meaningful, it suggests a future where those snap judgements during glitzy E3-style showcases may less often be proved to be right. Perhaps there's hope for Ryse after all.

I'm 10 hours into the Last of Us and it's such an incredible experience. It is absolutely NOTHING like Uncharted. It's a complete different game and anyone comparing it to Uncharted clearly hasn't played TLOU.

Having played all the uncharted games and now more than half of TLOU, I must say that I completely disagree with you. Yes there are plenty of differences between the two games. TLOU is much more mature with plenty of f bombs, lots of gore, more mature themes, and a very different story line and characters, but I still am constantly reminded of uncharted when I play it. The characters look very similar and their animations are very similar, from the way they walk to the way they interact with the environment and fight. The environment itself, which is obviously a different setting than those used in uncharted, has the same uncharted feel to it. The levels play out very similarly in a mostly linear fashion but gorgeous backdrops to view. The story is closely woven into the gameplay, with plenty of short clips to break up the action, just like the uncharted games. Heck, even my younger brother who doesn't game much anymore but used to play the uncharted games, walked in on me playing and remarked that it looked a lot like uncharted (and he didn't know naughty dog made this one as well). It is very much like uncharted, but it is also its own unique game with plenty of ways to differentiate itself from the uncharted series.

I think testament to how brilliant Naughty Dog designed the game, is that on Hard I only fired ~600 rounds to kill ~450 people/zombies.

If this had been any other game, the bullet and kill count would've been been in the thousands.

this game is what the walking dead should have been.the action is brutal but man i love it!i can't wait to see what naughty dog can do with the ps4.and bioshock infinite can't compare to this game.
