Ryse: Son of Rome Doesn't Inspyre Confydence | gamrReview Preview

gamrReview's Jake Weston: "When it's all said and done, Ryse doesn't inspire confidence. Yet, I can't help but feel strangely intrigued by the game. It's the only AAA Xbox One title that seems solely dedicated to single-player. It's the first non-FPS game from Crytek, a developer who has traditionally only developed first person shooters."

Too many QTEs for me. I will pass on this game.

I bet you bought heavy rain and is looking forward to beyond. only difference is that ryse isnt forcing to use the qtes and will reward you for avoiding it.

I've never played Heavy Rain. Sorry. This generation the only play time my PS3 got was exclusives like Uncharted, Blu-ray movie player, and FF Tactics from the PSN.

No man, they are "execution moves". Lol

I thought it looked alright from a cinematic perspective. But gameplay looked.. uninteresting.

The Crytek guys seemed very adamant in saying that the combat isn't QTEs, they were finishing combos that the player can customize. OK, we'll see..

I think they could've done a lot to make the game seem more interactive, and more like an actual game.
They should have had a some sort of HUD, have the player equip his shield, once on the beach have the player choose one of two weapons on the ground, show some XP earned, show a death sequence, demonstrate a different approach, have the player change weapons, ect.

They clearly have a amazing looking, cinematic game. I don't get why they seemingly-intentionally made it seem overwhelmingly uninteractive.
Many gamers want to see how *they* can impact how the game is played - not shown how they'll progress through quick time events.

Great, instead of making a sublime combat controls and interesting PvP we get quick time events and inspiration from a terrible slowmotion filled movie.

Its really too bad that this game is not being received well. It looks graphically and historically awesome, but I guess when it all boils down, the gameplay isn't that good.
