The Consumerist is reporting that Microsoft is making good on re-licensing downloadable content for Xbox 360 owners who got replacement machines. Finally.
About damn time.
I don't understand what is so hard for people to do what they need to do. Just re - down load it. What the hell?
thats not the problem. yea u can download it again but if its content u downloaded from another console the info stays there and u can only use that content while online. now imagine ur on a vacation and u cant go online there, now u cant access stuff u payed for. see the problem? i know XBLA games suffer from this garbage, not sure about downloaded maps and stuff
There is a GOD. Great news if true.
good news, and about as Evo Anubis stated, about time
What is up with the title? Microsoft MAY be slowly fixing the DRM issue? They ARE slowly fixing it. By that I mean they ARE slow. I have had lost purchases since I dropped my first 360 over a year and a half. If that isn't slow I don't know what is.
I'm on my 5th xbox 360.
Each time i get a new console I delete the games from my hard drive then go to my download history and download them again. Then they work.
Whats the big deal? Has it not always worked that way?
wow. 5th box. craziness.
because I just got a refurb back a few weeks ago and that did not work for me.
But after deleting them and re-downloading them from the download histroy they work fine offline with other tags.
Then you must be one of those lucky folks cause I have done that too and to no avail. Sorry, but I rather trust the tales of many over the tale of one. Your story seems a bit fishy to me. It's a know fact that when you purchase the games on the console, it is that initial console that the games will work on and no matter how many times to redownload the item, it will only work on that console while offline. Online is no issue in this case.
Well I Downloaded Bomberman, Heavy metal, Worms, Castlevania, sonic 1 and 2 on my 3rd console. Then they wouldn't work offline on my 4th until i re-downloaded them. and then again on my 5th.
you said "It's a know fact that when you purchase the games on the console, it is that initial console that the games will work on and no matter how many times to redownload the item, it will only work on that console while offline" well you are wrong.
Why would i lie? I'M ON MY 5TH BLOODY MACHINE!! I do have some experience of this issue and i've resolved it everytime.
I was just thinking that maybe some people wouldn't know about how to do this and were complaining for no reason. You know like this idiots who claimed they were getting the RROD when their video cable was unplugged.
I agree P4Y. My launch 360 ringed out (18 monthes old), and when I received my replacement 360 (now 7 monthes old) I had no problems getting my content.
Whoever wrote this article didn't know what they are talking about. The people that are having trouble recovering their content are people who buy a new 360, not people who have had a console replaced by the warranty. MS licenses the content from your gamertag to the console before you get it back.
Yeah i bet!!! ;-D
Its good to see M$ still looking after its fans.
Its good to be an Xbox gamer!
HA HA HA HA!
Actually, this solution was discovered and promoted back in August of last year by Tim Wilsie on the Commander Tim podcast in episode 45. Link here: http://www.commandertim.com...
Here’s a quote from the August 17, 2008 post: “This episode, I found the solution to my XBLA woes, no thanks to the wonderful tech support of Microsoft. Tune in to learn how you can avoid ever having to speak to them to fix it.”
Too bad Kotaku et al won’t give credit where credit is due, despite many people pointing this fact out to them.
i dont care what any1 says..MS should have tested and tested and tested the system b4 releasing it. They were desperate to beat SONY to the line and by doing so have cause millions of gamers stress and money.
i honestly wish they got sued for them being so stupid
f*ck M$ up their stupid asses. the only reason they are fixing this is because they don't want to have another class action lawsuit that they know they would lose. god damn bastards. let me play my god damn content I paid for years ago, ass.holes.
LoL, get lost you cunt. Don't think you're a part of the Sony family just couse you're bashing MS.
suck my banana, u c*ck sucker.
I'm sick of their bullsh!t
Is a thing of beauty
You gotta love them RROD
Cure - I thought they did get sued?? If not, oh well. But, hopefully they learned their lesson and test the next one a helluva lot more..
