Rule The Wasteland: Mad Max Gameplay Impressions

In the world of Mad Max, having a reliable set of wheels is everything. I know this from having the pleasure of spending time with the gameplay demo of Avalanche’s upcoming open-world wasteland title. (E3, Mad Max, PS4, Xbox One)

to be honest, I think the choice of making a single player Mad Max game was slightly odd. It's not wrong or anything, but in this day and age, having this kind of open-world survival wasteland game while being forced to play as one particular character seems like a missed opportunity imo.

I could've definitely seen more potential in this game if you made your own custom character and if it were an online game like DayZ

While I can see where you are coming from, I think that keeping the game single-player with a focus on survival a great idea. After Max lost his family and the world went to hell, he had no one and his only thought was that of survival. Even though this is a stand-alone title, I think it is safe to say that the game aims to capture the harsh feel of the films, and having the focus shifted towards creating a custom character would really detract from the source material and the narrative.

it might be kind of weird, having a Mad Max game, and not playing as Max.

maybe once they reintroduce the character, who has been out of the limelight for some years, and if this game is popular, they can make a multiplayer sequel.
