Oculus Rift for PS4, Not Yet.

Sony Computer Entertainment head of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida is a big Oculus Rift fan, it turns out. "We've got a couple of the development kits, and I tried it out and I love it," he told us in an interview this morning at E3 2013. Whether the PlayStation 4 will support it is another question. "No, it doesn't," Yoshida told us. Not yet, that is. (Dev, Industry, Oculus Rift, PS4, Shuhei Yoshida, Tech)

Head mount display is barely impressive in comparison to what Rift does. Early dev kit adopters are talking about how mind blowing the experience is, eventhough the displays in them aren't HD and the game they've played using it is Half Life 2. A game that's nearly a decade old. With the upgrades and fixes the second generation dev kits are going to receive (along with the new HD displays in them), they'll probably end up having a heart attack.

Sony should definitely think about integrating this with PlayStation 4.

I actually own the HMZ-T1 aka Head Mount Display. It has a few flaws (price being one of them) but it's definitely a neat device.

Playing Fifa on there feels like you're actually inside the stadium. And Gran Turismo 5 is just pure car porn in there in 3D.

Wow - from the way Yoshida's talking about the Oculus, hope to see a partnership or something like that on the PS4 sometime!

""We've got a couple of the development kits, and I tried it out and I love it,""

"When we asked whether the company's planning on offering support in the future, he only offered a "No comment" with a big smile." - YES ha.

I hope the Sony AR/VR headset
becomes much more accessible, meaning price. I could imagine it turning the PSMove into anthing right before your eyes, a sword, bat, putting skins on the PSmove assault rifle attachment thingy, and bringing your world into the virtual world. Sony Almost NEVER takes advantage of their accessories, this time I hope they do.

Seeing how they didnt mention anything 3d related to consoles i doubt they will implement it. It seems consoles are a to weak to provide good gfx fidelity with high frame rates and 3d. If current demos were running at 60 fps we would get ~30 with 3d enabled. That wouldnt leave much power for further gfx improvements and would only make processing power disparity between consoles and PCs in coming years even more apparent. Rift is good technology for PCs becouse on top of ever eveloving hardware you can always just add another gfx card to the system and boost your performance, which you cant do with consoles.
