Hmmph interesting.

Kinda makes sense now.

I thought this was already known. Ground Zeroes is like Virtuous Mission in MGS3:Snake Eater.

They never, ever categorically said it was so, until now. And the fact that they billed MGS:GZ as a standalone game weeks/months before the announcement of MGS:TPP made it pretty confusing and easy to assume it was standalone.

It does make sense that it's the prologue to TPP, but wasn't clear it was so, at all.

This article is from march, 2013. It specifically states that Ground Zeroes is the first portion of the game that is "Metal Gear Solid V". This has been known ever since Kojima first announced that The Phantom Pain was in fact a new Metal Gear Solid game.

Have to reply to your original message to reply to your new one...

Isn't that a pretty recent article? Wasn't the first new about MGS:GZ out late last year? So we were left at least 4-5 months in the dark, assuming it was a new game. You're right though, I did miss that article stating that.

Really hope for a PC version :/

Well I remember when the ground zeros mission was show kojima said that it was running all on a PC so I would say it very likely.

That also happened for alan wake and looked what happened.

Pretty frustrating if you ask me. I was looking forward to MGS:GZ as a smaller, introductory title before TPP, largely to test out the Open World level design, and something to release for 2013.

But nope, we have to wait all the way to 2014 for our next MGS fix. At least they could release GZ as a download-only prologue, similar to Dead Rising 2's little downloadable start-point game. I reckon that would work.

Confusing
WitWolfy  +   783d ago
No offense but I thought this was obvious... It was never even announced that there were two games, well not what I recall.
boldscot  +   783d ago
It was not obvious, Kojima was very evasive about whether or not MGS V and GZ were on the same disc when Geoff Keighley first spoke to him about the game.

MGS6 better be about a young Solid Snake. I'm getting sick of Big Boss. I want either remakes of MG1 & MG2 or a remake of MGS1. I'll even settle for an HD version of Twin Snakes(but they need to replace the soundtrack and put the original MGS1 music)

It seems to me that some people on these boards are pretty bitter at being wrong. I saw some of you posting angrily I might add, that MGS Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain were separate games and even resorted to name calling those that offered up legitimate facts as to why it was not. Not to mention ignoring the obvious fact, why would anyone release one game, with two releases, seems a bit excessive.

Almost as bad as the fans that thought (and still think) that David Hayter is coming back.

The facts were all there, you just chose to ignore them, now that it has been FLAT OUT confirmed for you, you still lash out and disagree with those who only tried to say, "Mate, we told you it was one game"

On June 12, Konami via their E3 pod cast that Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain are now part of the same game.
