The Nintendo Direct E3 2013 Reaction

"Mario Kart 8 will give an insane new perspective with anti-gravity effects. It reminded PL of F Zero with a sprinkle of Diddy Kong Racing." -Play Legit (3DS, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, E3, Mario Kart 8, Pokemon X and Y, Super Mario 3D World, Super Smash Bros. 4, Wii U)

i was left underwhelmed by ND E3 2013.. They played it safe by going with what we knew was coming & no much from 3rd party either.. X looked great to me but none of the others were as good as i thought they would be.. They still need time to polish these games up cuz nintendo obviously cant do HD that detailed yet.. Miyamoto said it himself & thats why the games are taking so long to release.. Wii U games are beginning to look dated compared to whats coming out & whats been out..

Still look fun to play but im not thrilled for the same things again.. X & Bayo 2 are the only games i really want

In a way they did take a risk by having Donkey Kong instead of Metroid, going the 3D land route with Mario instead of the normal 3D Mario we expected

Nintendo games have a distinct art style that doesn't fit the common definition of high end graphics. They are cartoony but with high detail and particles. Smooth and glossy with a hint of character

The fact of the matter is Nintendo showed what they know will sell WiiU's, something they desperately need to do. Releasing a bunch of games similar to those of Xbox or PS4 doesn't set them apart.

Their presentation wasn't particularly stunning, but it sure didn't show weakness.

I never said it was weak.. Just that i expected their games to look better than they did.. Thier art style keeps it cartoony but their couldve been MUCH more detailed textures & better lighting effects..

"Nintendo showed what they know will sell wii u's".. IDK about that one man.. They showed exactly what we knew they would show & what they THINK will sell wii u's.. No doubt some ppl will buy one just to play those games but idk if very many will.. This isnt a portable $160 handheld here, its a home console thats $50-$100 less than PS4 which is significantly more powerful & has 100% support from 3rd party devs.. Nintendo rarely makes any new IPs & they ones they have might not seem as exciting as the offerings on other systems..

Wii U will be a fantastic secondary home console, I have one.. But this holiday season theyre only releasing a couple of the titles shown so ppl might not want to buy one if PS4 has such a huge launch library.. These wii u games will be fun & all but most ppl arent buying 2 systems right away & their 1st choice wont be this.. I tell you one thing, if these games dont get people to buy a wii u, NOTHING WILL.. Only a few other franchises left for nintendo to release on the thing & thats it.. They dont normally release sequels on the same console so it will be a very dry system if the 3rd party doesnt pick up

i like how they did it by dividing there major announcements dispersed throughout the year with each nintendo direct. I would much rather watch a nintendo direct straight to the point rather than a press conference.

It would be cool to splice the Directs together from throughout the year into one main presentation and pretend that's Nintendo's E3 presentation

If they can have the same kind of focus and bigger reveals it would be cool to see a conference from them again.
