Mario Kart 8 Runs At 60 FPS, Considered The "Definitive Mario Kart"

Nintendo World Report: ''In a Nintendo Developer Direct, Mario Kart 8 was called the "definitive Mario Kart." Many other details were revealed.

Like Mario Kart 7, 8 will run at 60 FPS (frames-per-second) and will feature extensive online multiplayer. This time, Miiverse is utilized to create tournaments where you can set specific rules and play with friends. Miiverse is also used to share replay data.'' (Mario Kart 8, Wii U)

Mario Kart Wii ran at 60fps and 1080p too, its just that you needed a PC to do that :P

spring 2014, so at least we have some idea.
gamer42  +   447d ago
Cool, now do the same with F-Zero!
Myst  +   446d ago
This was all I wanted from the Direct :(
gamer42  +   446d ago
Soon , hopefully soon.
Jagsrock  +   447d ago
It sure looks like the ultimate Mario kart.
caseh  +   447d ago
mario Kart hasn't truly been a Mario Kart game since the N64 version. They made it too noob friendly and threw skill out of the window.
kratos_TheGoat  +   447d ago
still a fun game btw

Considering how little they've changed with the last 3 or 4 installments (and what they have changed, mostly not good), they will have to do something significant for it to be the definitive installment.

Absolutely. Having quite possibly the best online community system in any online Nintendo game and removing snaking so inexperienced players actually have a shot at victory is SO terrible. /s

Oh, and kudos for the lack of vehicular transformations, customization and coin system acknowledgements.

As far as I'm concerned, Mario Kart 7 is the best in the franchise and it will take more than pretty graphics to beat that one.

I think Double Dash was my favorite, had more accessibility than 64 but wasn't the unpredictable nonsense known as Mario Kart wii.

always loved mario kart, I knew Nintendo wouldn't betray me haha

It needs custom tracks that you can share and play online otherwise meh
Ol_G  +   444d ago
custom tracks is a way of saying " we don't have enough inspiration build your own tracks "
No thank you just let them build their own tracks
gazgriff2k12  +   444d ago
then what about when those tracks get boring. mod nation racers and little big planet racing says hi
Ol_G  +   442d ago
the racing in those games itself is boring before the tracks become boring + i still like to play double dash from time to time the tracks stay good controls are atleast as good

A long as they don't add the damned blue shell, everything's alright.
FlyingFoxy  +   447d ago
The blue shell in the n64 version was the best one, since it was spiked and ran along the track to potentially hit other players before the one in first place.. that was most fair compared to the other games.
GARBAGE LICKER  +   447d ago
it does that in 7 too so maybe this one will have it
RM-TatoTiburon  +   447d ago
the definitive mario kart is mario kart 64 will mario kart 8 take the crown? i hope it does
jonboi24  +   447d ago
I think Sega All Stars Transformed out mario karts mario kart. So till they beat that then I hold my judgement on definitive mario kart

Looks wicked fun.
telekeneticmantis  +   446d ago
If my friend
doesn't get this for his WiiU I'll get it for him this looked as fun as ever.
LKHGFDSA  +   446d ago
The game looks exactly the same as the 3DS Mario Kart, of which I'm sick to death of.
Same physics and mechanics, same animations, same sound effects, same graphical style.
I was somewhat expecting a new engine, and an HD overhaul. Instead it's just a shoddy port.

Same goes for the other first party games, Mario 3D World, Smash Bros, and Pikmin.
All lazy rehashes with no effort put into actually making the games.
These first party titles were the last hope for the Wii U, and they blew it. (As far as I'm concerned, at least.)
