Sony's E3 showing a spiritual victory for PlayStation

Gamasutra: "Sony galvanized industry-watchers with an E3 presentation that seemed to offer disillusioned consumers exactly the message they wanted to hear from the console business: A permissive policy to used games, no obligation to constant online connectivity, a long list of exciting new games, an indie-friendly ecosystem that invites devs to self-publish, and a $399 price point -- $100 less than the Xbox One's." (E3, PS4, Sony)

When Sony announced the price, used games being allowed, no drm, and the crowd starting cheering like crazy...that was easily the best moment in E3 history.

the pricing is good but
did they kill the idea of the drm/used game thing even for the publishers?

sony iitially said it was up to them but if they killed the entire idea all together then it is a big win.

If sony still says its up to publishers then i dont know what to think.

Gaming is in need of a savior and I knew it was going to be the PS4. Its full of positive energy and preparation and potential and progress.

Here is to ten years of gaming peace and prosperity.

PS2 x 2 = PS4

In regards to drm I'm happy and will support Sony. As for the presentation it was horrible. A lot of developers I wanted to see didn't show. Didn't help the people presenting had no enthusiasm and we're boring to watch and listen to. Nothing really blew me like it did when ms announced KI3, insomniac games, and have kojima on their stage.
Not to mention the system is ugly. Maybe my expectations were too high. Ms had the better showing but ps4 wins just for the fact of no drm and $100 cheaper.

only for playstation?
try the whole gamers community!

now gamers have the option to NOT put up to M$'s anti-consumer crap!

They wouldve won even if they had DRM.. They have the best software, price, features, services, etc.. They just put the cherry on top with no DRM.. That made the win overkill

Whenever Jack said that you wouldn't have to be connected online with a 24 hour check, that was like hearing the best "Yo Momma" ever created and dissing Microsofts' useless contraption.

Spiritual because they sent Microsoft to Hell

xbox one isn't only the name of microsofts console... its also their sales projection... if steve ballmer is still high enough.

i know at least 5 people who preorded x1 today including myself. both consoles will be great. nice win for Sony today. it'll be interesting to see where the casuals flock to. also microsoft has timed exclusivity for both COD and Battlefield, that is huge. COd may not mean much to you and me, but to casuals its significant, along with kinect.

I was almost tempted to preorder but the restrictions stopped me. I'm really interested in titanfall, dead rising 3, insomniac game, and killer instinct 3. I just can't support drm, and I'd rather spend 400 on a more powerful system and save 100 for games.

Reasonable good article but I actually always thought the Bluray drive in the ps3 was a great addition. Without that we could be playing on HD-DVDs now.....

Nah porn chose Bly ray. Both consoles will stream games off the hard disk so it's kind of irrelavent
