GT:We go hunting in the shadows in this demo from E3 2013 All Access coverage.
I'm not sure why Eidos is on this "focus" kick with their games. I'm really hoping it doesn't force you into scenarios where you have to use it (turning it off would be great, but since he said it was connected to the story I doubt it will be an option). I also hope the screen doesn't feel too crowded with that foggy border around the edges and the hands playing a big part. I am glad to see that combat doesn't look overly fluid. Garrett isn't a warrior, so combat shouldn't be easy enough to run through hordes of enemies. But then again, that brings into question the focus abilities and how much easier fighting will be with them. Definitely glad to see the shadows, hiding bodies, all that stuff, is still very much part of the series (cough cough my avatar) I'm cautiously optimistic, but still have plenty of questions/concerns.
of all games this one should have looked next gen. but it just doesnt.
damn boring too
I don't know what some of you were expecting from next gen. It looks a lot better than current gen games.
Looks good. Thief will always have a special meaning for me, love the series.
This game looked like crap. Doesn't even look next-gen. And I suspect is why Geoff Kieghley and Spike actually showed it and made sure people knew it was running on PS4.
Doesn't even look next gen? Lol, get used to it. This is it. Lower your expectations.
That would make sense of this was the first next gen game we'd seen but we've already seen many games that look far better than this. Admittedly none of them look perfect and it is good to keep expectations from getting ridiculous but to say 'this is it' is silly when we've already seen far better than this.
I've seen very little that looks next gen. All I've seen is games that look like pc games. And that's pretty much all you should expect.
@Ted Oh, you're one of those gamers. That explains it.
AI seems terrible, combat sluggish. Not very next gen.
I'll address the elephant in the room then shall I? Is this Dishonored 2?
Considering Thief has been around since the 90s, and Dishonored was inspired by elements of the Thief franchise, I would say no.
Ps4? really..? it looks bad ..looks more like ps3..yikes
Really hope you can disable that focus mode
THIS DO NOT look like a ps4 game.. FFS !!!! what have you dont to my favorite game back in the days?! First of all it looks like shit Second of all,,, SPIKE dont be such XBOX fanboys
first thing I noticed besides the obsurdity of water arrows, was the FOV is tiny, needs a slider, and yeah graphically nothing special BUT who cares? if the gameplays good i'm all for it.
The Thief franchise has cool arrows. Moss arrows were fun to use. If you think that is absurd, you may not like the supernatural elements of the Thief games (I'm assuming you aren't familiar with the franchise since you said you noticed the water arrows).
I've seen a fair bit of gameplay, never actually played any of them, what can I say, I was a deprived child
Just to be clear I wasn't trying to imply anything negative about you as a gamer, just making sure you know that this definitely isn't a realistic medieval period-piece franchise. It's a dark fantasy series, with some magic, creatures, etc. (so a water arrow fits within the game world).
I didn't take it personally, you were right I haven't played them, I don't have a problem with fantasy, just seemed really strange to me seeing someone fire water arrows as basically the first thing I saw in the vid
