FTG Writes: Zombies have been a mainstay in video games for decades. Being a mainstay of gaming tropes for that long, the zombie has become trite. I mean, slow, lumbering, evil monsters that offer no sense of guilt or moral quandary? It’s a pretty easy trope to bite on. State of Decay conceptually turns the zombie genre on its head by focusing on the personal turmoil of a post-apocalypse on top of some fantastic gameplay elements. As is the case with many other undead scenarios, the technical limitations of State of Decay will hold back some of the more brilliant aspects. Despite some of these shortcomings, the ambition of this game is high enough to overlook them, and at a $20 price tag, State of Decay offers plenty of bang for your buck.
