Microsoft details subtle differences between the gamepads
i like the rumble triggers & the overall look of the controller is solid.. Thats good that it enters a low power state so it doesnt shut off during movies but i must say, the dual shock 4 is a far superior controller.. Not cuz of the touchpad either but because it has all the gyroscopic six axis lightbar sharing speaker mechanisms.. You know, just 4 or 5 more improvements..
"the dual shock 4 is a far superior controller." lol...I don't think so. Sony has even added triggers because they know it worked better than what they had before.
LOL it STILL runs on AA batteries? What is this the '50s? I thought that was archaic, weight adding nonsense with the 360, but they still haven't entered the 21st century after all this time? If they have a port for a micro cable, why not just allow you to completely charge the controller with that and be done with this ridiculously out of date AA battery technology? I mean what is this?
Lets be honest here, the xbox one is a total disaster but the controller actually sounds like a fantastic little piece of hardware, left and right stereo rumble if you like plus 1 more rumble motor for each trigger, plus it looks really sexy. The only thing I dont like the look of is the top of the thumbsticks curve inwards instead of popping out like on the dual shock.
XB1 is not a total disaster....lol The thing hasn't even been released yet. Just wait and see before we start judging. It's only a disaster for fanboys who wee probably never gonna buy it anyway. This site is the laughing stock of the industry because 99% of the articles are not even factual and posted by fanboys.
Exactly Belking, The iPad was claimed a total disaster when it was first announced and look where it is now. This site has nothing but the same 200 fanboys leeching to negative MS news and bashing it at any chance they get and downplay any positive news that is about the Xbox or MS. It is really like the ghetto of gaming website here. The controller for the 360 is the best gaming pad ever made and it has like one weakness like the D=Pad; it is fixed now and other new features like trigger rumbling and interaction with Kinect will make it even better. No doubt this is a serious tool for gaming.
To be honest I don't think that this controller is aesthetically pleasing, but neither Ps4 is. The originals Dualshock 1,2 and 3 were the best.
"The originals Dualshock 1,2 and 3 were the best." That doesn't really make much sense because sony's PS4 controller is basically the same as the DS3.
one of few good things about Xbox One
still annoys me that it requires batteries.
surely this one has rechargeables as standard?
not so bad if its rechargeable i wonder what the battery life is like for both controllers
Hope a pc version is in the pipeline love using 360 one for certain pc games.
I play hawken with a 360 pad..hell of a lot more fun for my console loving hands. will be nice to use this though.
Anyone who prefers Sony's controller must have doll hands. It's too small and the analogue sticks are too close together. MS did a good job in this area
I agree..except for that awful dpad on the 360 the twisty ones pop out after a few spirited games of marvel vs capcom. The new d pad looks much better. and yes the sticks are STILL too close together on the new ps pad. but I can live with. would be nice if they made the pad a little bigger though.
I guess you are still playing with the original xb controller then? because the 360 controller is also for "doll hands" after your logic (I have both and I can play comfortably with both of em with my big fat huge monster hands)
^^ Someone who has obviously not been paying attention to the DualShock 4. http://multiplayerblog.mtv.... They've actually moved the sticks further apart and made the grips larger. They've also inverted the thumb resting positions on the analog sticks.
Someone not paying attention to my post. I was referring to the ps3. I'll make my judgment on the ps4 controller when I pick mine up
My apologies. I should have read your comment more clearly - I thought you were talking about DS4. I prefer the current DualShock anyway because I appreciate symmetry in design and feel... and my hands are not huge. :p
Nice to see that my favorite controller got even better.
awesome, plain and simple
@Thomper Man you are on a roll, only joined this morning and so many posts already. Ican see you're really working hard for those micro dollars! On Topic, Much prefer the look of the new Xbox controller, but always hated the way they sit in your hand. And I'm certain they only moved the left thumbstick to avoid copyright issues(it just feels so wrong IMO).
Just supporting the underdog. I've pre-ordered both PS4 and XB1. I love games, not brands.
You love games, but you can't see how bad the XBO is for gaming? How much worse it'd be if its anti-consumer practices caught on? I call BS.
It is only Anti-consumer to people that have no interest in it in the first place. Sony will have a similar scheme and E3 will verify that and I am sure you and the rest of the N4G crowds will change your tones after that. If you think this is ant-consumer, what about DRMs in Music, video, and even ebooks nowadays? If you don't like it, get a Wii U but to single out the Xbox and Sony not saying a word really does tell the story for people that know how corporate companies work.
@Italian If you want to point out DRM in the music, video, and books industry, how about this one. We can still resell all that other stuff we buy at retail without the hassle of a middle man console maker, and do so on our own terms in any way we so choose. If you're talking about digital download versions of all that stuff fair enough. It is what it is, and if people choose to use that stuff it's on them to give up that ownership. Unless you live in the EU, and one can hope the rest of the world one day. DD is now a choice, not mandatory. Restricting retail is removing the choice, and the consumers rights to their property. What most people have a problem with is the restrictions on retail games. Not one single person has mentioned how we hate it for digital games in this discussion. The only people that use that argument, are the ones who can't make the distinction between the two, and use it as a reason why it's all OK, such as yourself. For me, the biggest reason I don't buy digital is because I don't have ownership of those products. I will only buy digital if the price is right, and typically for older games such as PS One classics, or maybe a phone app.
Oh, and it's pounds here puddin'
Hey, if you're interested in the money. You know, you could always make the switch.
We're not all prepared to sell our souls im afraid (whatever the price). @Thomper, I'm in the UK too you numpty (see, thats proof right there), just not sure Microsoft is aware of anywhere existing outside of North America. If videogames are important to you why are you supporting a company thats trying its best to destroy them?
I like how they added a new proprietary port to make old headsets obsolete. So you have to buy a new Microsoft licensed headset which won't come with the system. /sarcasm
I have the same wirless headset i bought at launch. which is a bit shitty..this time round im going to but something descent like a turtle beach set.
It's kinda sad you couldn't recognize my sarcasm. What I really think is, it's a rip off and a scam to nickle and dime consumers. Microsoft is selling licensing on a proprietary port just to make a few extra dollars. If they cared about the consumer they would have used Bluetooth or at least used the same port as the 360.
Ashlen..new console..new shit..when I build a new PC I dont use the same old parts thats just. apple do the same thing tbh. you think buying a new headset cost money? tell that to anybody that has bought thunderbolt devices for their apple products. MS aint the only ones Point is my crappy headset need replacing and knowing that the XBone wont support 360 headsets saves me from buying one and making that mistake later. your sarcasm was noted. and i didnt care for it..you simply reminded why I was holding off from buying a new headset at this point in time.
Were not talking about graphics or other ports here. I can understand sometimes more complicated parts need new ports. Though I am not defending Apple in anyway, I would probably say the exact same thing about them. We are talking about a simple headset. There is absolutely no reason they couldn't have supported Bluetooth or made old headsets work with the new system. But they CHOSE to use a proprietary port just to force people to buy a new headset. It was a nickle and dime move. If your happy about it good for you. To me it indicates Microsoft was more interested in there own profits than they were in the customer.
The XB1 will most likely come with a headset. Xbox always ships with that
It wont ship with an headset . They expect you to simply use kinect or to pruchase a 3rd party headset
It'll make a great controller for my PC as I have zero interest in the console.
It's a great looking controller. I am eager to test it out.
The controller certainly has some nice additions. Both of the new PS4 and X1 controllers seem like they have made some smart choices. lets hope they both feel as good in the hand as they look.
sad that such good controller is stuck with a shitty console. thank god for PC compatibility.
Did you know you can easily play with a dualshock 3 on a pc ? Just check for ps3 controller drives.
yea I use motionjoy sometimes when I want to emulate old ps2 games. and then there are some games that just feel good with the DS3, it always depends on what I'm playing.
