A stroll through some of the more memorable and engaging yarns in gaming.
The entire Metal Gear storyline is easily the best in videogame history and would stand strong in any other medium too.
1. Metal Gear series 2. Nier 3. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 4. BioShock: Infinite 5. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 I love these games not only because of their great storylines, but also because of great characters and unique themes used in the stories.
Bioshock Infinite's story didn't really appeal to me. The rest of your list though I thoroughly enjoyed. My personal favourite storys would be: Silent Hill series 1-4. Resident Evil 1,2,3 and Code Veronica. Final Fantasy VII-IX. Metal Gear series. Legacy Of Kain series.
Metal Gear Solid 3 KOTOR The Last of Us Bioshock Chrono Trigger *no specific order
Yeah, KOTOR should definitely be on the list. I'd have the Longest Journey on mine as well. Also, I'd just like to say that it's refreshing to see Dark Souls make a list. Not many people know it's story because of it's obvious difficulty and the way in which it is told, but when I started paying attention I was instantly hooked.
Enslaved, original Bioshock, inFamous and Resistance are missing from that list.
mortal kombat has an extremely rich story.
Metal Gear Saga. The Witcher Dragon Age. Nier Final Fantasy VI, VII. Cheesyness of NFS MW, and DMC.
Metal Gear Solid Legacy of Kain Final Fantasy VII Grandia Vampire The Masquerade - Redemption Uncharted trilogy Zelda Ocarina of Time Another World (Out of this World) Nier was good too if only the gameplay and graphics were better the game would've succeeded big. I found a pleasant story in Sonic 3 and Knuckles even :-) who remembers when Knuckles got shocked by Dr. Robotnik in the Emerald cave where all the seven were and in his last breath, before passing out that is, he gave Sonic the carry on without me look and then to the Sky Sanctuary and its epic music, it was awesome! there are more but can't remember now.
This article has already been posted, I remember commenting on it.
This is a reasonably good list, though I'd definitely want one of the Legacy of Kain games and Planescape on there. The quality of the writing in those two series is mindblowing. Also heartening that BioWare was entirely omitted.
1. xenosaga 2. lunar siverstar complete 3. suikoden 2 4. grandia 5. shadow hearts 3
Street fighter. ......
Videogames have good stories? Movie adaptations have been nothing short of brilliant huh.
Two different mediums mate. Each plays by its own rules. So what works in one won't work on the other. Same thing happens when adapting books or comic books. Those that work, many times are the ones that cut ties with the original (keeping mostly the core and themes). Plus, when it comes to games, the tendency is to adapt the most popular ones, which, truth be told, usually don't have much in terms of narrative.
