It's understandable if you want to play racing games even if you know nothing about cars. It's the same way in which the show Top Gear is funny to people who aren't auto enthusiasts: three snarky Englishmen who have some instinctual need to one-up the other is really, really funny. Zany trumps realistic when it comes to racing games. On-board weapons and power-ups and catchy, abnormal music alongside courses taken from beautiful dreams and horrifying nightmares of grand design draw players in, not selecting your engine torque or chassis size. Are those car terms? Yes? No? Anyway, there's nothing wrong with realistic racing games like Forza and Gran Turismo, but this list features the best of the silly, not the simulation.
