Most publishers still don't know what's going on when it comes to used games on the Xbox One.

What a cluster****. You have Microsoft saying its up to publishers. You have publishers acting like they don't understand what Microsoft is doing. My blame goes to Microsoft because they developed this console and engineered its firmware that triggers these restrictions and has caused this whole mess and backlash.

Have we ever seen an implosion like this for a video game manufacturer in just 3-4 weeks? Its just so unreal to watch this unfold in real time before our very eyes.

NatureOfLogic1929d ago

I expected this to happen. Everyone playing clueless and let MS hurt themselves. Expect more of this in the future. Not everyone is willing to risk a great number of sales and fan base just to push this policy that MS has in place.

karl1929d ago

I never liked MS but I have to admit the 360 was real competition to the ps3 ... I would have never thought they were going to shoot themself in the foot like this.

nypifisel1929d ago

This IS interesting. Cause it could mean that the DRM wasn't at all a universal claim from ALL publisher but perhaps a deal stricken between EA and Microsoft.. The plot thickens!

mmccarthy41929d ago

It does sound shady but sony also gave that ability to publishes with ps4 aswell. I'm more concerned about the sharing game policy

SexyGamerDude1929d ago (Edited 1929d ago )

You know something is wrong when the publishers and devs still don't know what the hell is going on.

greenpowerz1929d ago (Edited 1929d ago )

That tends to happen when new consoles and policies are or were not finalized lol. If this is wrong Sony's must be evil?

Sony's vague comments are much better than facts from MSFT :P

The industry let MSFT take the hit LOL

Your turn Sony

To any xbox fans that comes in here. Don't pay attention to the drama and spin in this article and the comment section from PS fans, all the dev said was:

“We haven't had time to fully understand and evaluate their policy,"

Not surprising when they announced it for the first time in it's complete finalized form last night.

Dude I guess I can get you are loyal to a brand and what not. But c'mon dude. You need to go through a lot of BS just to play games on this damned thing.

nypifisel1929d ago

Stop defending Microsoft. They don't give a crap about you, why are you defending them?

Captain Qwark 91929d ago

exactly, publishers know whats going on, sony has their plans detailed already, and the reality is, they know there will be wicked backlash like their is for ms so they are sitting quietly as long as possible so they dont have to do damage control.

the fact of the matter is, nobody wants to be the bad guy and everyone knew there would be backlash but seeing how bad it truly is for ms, they prob decided to hold off and let ms take all the lumps.

this is by no means praising ms for coming out and detailing it nor do i agree with much of it but i dont believe for a minute sony or publsihers dont have similar policies they just dont want to speak of right now because of the sh*t storm ms is dealing with

SexyGamerDude1929d ago

Can you please go be a shill somewhere else?

Sevir1929d ago

There is NOTHING to spin about this. Developers and publishers alike are even more confused about this press release. And the fact that Bethesda, one of MS's closest partners says this tells you Ms isn't giving the whole truth.

Makes you wonder why MS cancel there post Interview sessions with the press and the E3 round tables panel following there conference...

The Xbox One is a restrictive gaming platform that forces you to jump through the hoops to enjoy your experience.

Tiqila1929d ago

greenpowerz continues lame viral marketing attempts for MS.

wishingW3L1929d ago (Edited 1929d ago )

http://kotaku.com/sony-wont...

At a roundtable this morning, Sony's game studios chief, Shuhei Yoshida, told reporters that any requirement for users to register a game online in order to play it would be left to game publishers. Sony won't require that." (Emphasis added.)

mmccarthy41929d ago

why do people need to pick sides Sony has given any reason to suggest that they are doing the same thing ms is doing. And Ms's restriction are seriously not that big of a deal. People need to chill

OrangePowerz1929d ago

Because publishers never got information from MS about all that? They will have know what MS is doing for some time.

"“We haven't had time to fully understand and evaluate their policy,"

MS, confusing the game industry since 2013.

Hydralysk1929d ago

And yet despite all this, I'm pretty sure the XBone will sell like hotcakes among the american dudebros.

Sad fact is that MS doesn't give a crap about you if you are reading this. They are targeting the people who only play CoD/Madden/Fifa all year, not the people who actually take the time to read gaming news. Makes me sick but it could probably work.

I don't think I'll be buying any next gen console, at least for a good couple years.

DevilishSix1929d ago

Well then MS is in for a rude awaking, because those niche gamers usually buy a couple games a year and play those all year. That is not enough to keep their platform viable.

cpayne931929d ago

Are there less of these dudebro nubs in europe? I know some people like that, who play nothing but cod and madden. I'd consider myself more hardcore than them (not a fan of that word tho) but some of them pour more hours into cod than I do any other game. No idea how it can keep their attention that long.
