so now the blame is on publishers? I dont give a shit about publishers blocking used games or not, what is disgusting is Microsoft's intention to design the machine this way.

xHeavYx2013d ago

Please, why would EA get rid of the online pass if they weren't thinking of blocking/charging an extra fee for used games?

nix2013d ago

haha... every time this guy speak, it should be called "opposite day".

abzdine2013d ago

@xHeavYx:

because they know from the start that xbox will be like it is

stuna12013d ago

Oh well it's a wrap! People prepare for the worst! The backwards man is at it again.

* Love how he always comes out with these "predictions" about 1-2 days after they are made by somebody else.

He literally just steals other people's opinions and uses them as his own.

What he does for his real job, he probably is legit at.

But business people like him don't have time to really game and so they don't really understand games.

If when you think of gaming, money enters your mind, your out of touch with gaming.

There you go guys....proof...finally....tha t publishers will block X1 used games

F4sterTh4nFTL2013d ago

Yeah I agree, if all Publishers do it at the same time, gamers will have no choice but to accept it. Sony will need to come clean and I have a feeling that Sony fanboys will not be happy.

Godmars2902013d ago

"if all Publishers do it at the same time, gamers will have no choice but to accept it."

Or not buy those games. Which would then send the publishers into shock.

JoySticksFTW2013d ago

Didn't disagree, but Sony already has already come clean.

They said they'll leave DRM up to publishers way back in Feb. And PS4 does not require online (except for obvious features like multiplayer and cloud)

That way gamers don't need to boycott an entire console.

Sitdown2013d ago

Microsoft is leaving DRM to publishers, and you see what that looks like.

JoySticksFTW2013d ago (Edited 2013d ago )

For those disagreeing

http://www.cinemablend.com/...

"At a roundtable this morning, Sony's game studios chief, Shuhei Yoshida, told reporters that any requirement for users to register a game online in order to play it would be left to game publishers. Sony won't require that."

And from same article in the link provided

"This clears up a few things:

1.) The PlayStation 4 can play games offline without having to be online. This was clarified the day of the PS4's reveal back on February 20th.

2.) Sony will not have any mandatory DRM for used games. You can buy, play, trade used games on the PlayStation 4 just as usual. No additional registration fees, pay-walls or internet registration required.

3.) If you so choose, you can play games from disc, download them from the digital store or remote load them. Sony doesn't mandate any method over the other for multi-format titles.

4.) Just for extra clarification the PlayStation 4 does not and will not require a constant always-on internet connection."

DRM is not mandatory but left to the publishers. And online is not mandatory.

It will be great if Sony says screw it, no DRM at all. But until then, this is what we have.

Again gamers can chose to only boycott a greedy publisher, instead of needing to boycott a whole console.

Unless I'm misunderstanding this. In which case, let me know how.

@JoySticksFTW:

All that really says is that they're doing exactly what MS is doing, passing the buck, but aren't in the position to implement it. That it hasn't been directly designed into the functionality of their system.

Cause we all know everything Pachter says is the opposite. :)

One4U2013d ago

i hope this DRM doesnt happen but it looks like the 3rd party devs pushed it ! and effin MS had to make a DRM console ! This industry man , its going to shit !

TheSurg2013d ago

You guys need to take off your fanboy glasses. To remind you Sony said exactly same thing, that it's the publishers that will decide if they wan't to block used games or not on ps4...and it's totally ok with you, but when MS does it it's end of the world and MS is the devil.

Truth is, both companies will do that, get over it.

bsquwhere2013d ago

Its not just used games, its the limitations Microsoft has put on letting friends borrow games. Yeah its great they can do it but I have to be with them. Unless their family, and I want to know how they can identity who your family is. Plus you can only give a game away once. If I sold u a game, u couldn't turn around and resell it.

he's off his medication. quick someone get him some.

TripC502013d ago

If publishers won't block used games then why implement tech to dissern whether or not a game is a used game or not? His statement is illogical

Kenshin_BATT0USAI2013d ago

Ironic...frankly he's made the most sense out of anyone in regards to this lately.
