Phil Spencer, Microsoft Studios Corporate Vice President speaks about the Xbox One and Xbox 360's reliability.
People have to buy before it can fail.
it will outsell Vita....lol
Yeah, because now ths PS3 has outsoled your beloved console, you must troll the Vita. Lol you're pathetic.
at least the vita never RROD. for some reason i feel the X1 will have some failure
i noticed, you're kind of butt hurt over the harsh criticism of the xbox one lol.
industry insiders say the XB1 is having problems with yields, that is the same problem that caused the RROD, MS will have to downclock the GPU about 25% or risk another brick console disaster. http://www.neogaf.com/forum...
AAHAHAHA! now how do you recover from that?
How about the ps go dont forget that piece of dodo from sony.
the last of us probably would red ring xbox 360s, the last of us looks better then xbox one games showcased on their reveal event lol cod ghost is next gen and looks outdated compared to the last of us.
Ignorance is quite prominent on this website, please show respect for all platforms. The Xbox 360 in terms of graphical power would be able to run the Last of Us. Only two drawbacks though: 1.Sony Exclusive 2. Blu-ray disk will always have a advantage over standard disks. You also got to remember some interesting facts such as e.g. The Xbox 360 can push 500 million polygons while the PS3 can push 250 million polygons. The key thing that helped sonys PS3 in terms of graphical performance is Blu-ray in my opinion which allowed high memory games being displayed. If it weren't for Blu-ray I doubt any platform would have MGS4 lol. I can just see this comment getting disliked by the numbers.
let me know when you wake from this dream....lol "influxity + 4m ago i noticed, you're kind of butt hurt over the harsh criticism of the xbox one lol." Not one bit. It's to be expected here....lol This wouldn't be N4G if they didn't hate on everything xbox related. I think it's funny because at the end of the day it's just fanboys bumpbing their gums on a keyboard trying to convince people that their choice is better. Game on Fanboys.
@CalamityCB: The reason you're going to get dislikes is because for all that technical points you try to make, there isn't a game on the 360 that comes close to TLOU. The PS3 has always pushed graphic quality with the only exception are multiplatform titles. And lately there are even exceptions to that point. @Belking: Its also, "Hey! You're being ripped off!" or, "Hey! This new thing is an intrusion of personal privacy!" or, "Hey! Try to think for yourself!" Which often gets dismissed as fanboyism.
"You also got to remember some interesting facts such as e.g. The Xbox 360 can push 500 million polygons while the PS3 can push 250 million polygons." What game exactly can you show as proof of this? Right..it doesn't matter if it makes billions of polygons if no one can utilize it.
"This wouldn't be N4G if they didn't hate on everything xbox related." I'm pretty sure this site was still called N4G a few years back, when everything PS3 related was getting the hate.
Lately top tier MP games run better on PS3 - like Metro 2033 (runs 5fps higher than 360 on heavy load) and Tomb Raider which runs with less tear and better lighting. All in all, I think devs figured how to max the PS3 and it shows an advantage even in games vs other platforms. I think that myth can finally put to rest. Obviously knowledge and SW technology has matured late in its life cycle which makes this possible.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. We'll see how things turn out. I'll believe that the failure rate is in a good place when I see it.
Its good to know although they really couldn't afford another hiccup at launch like they had with the 360.
Its funny to hear from Microsoft about the "high failure rate" of the 360 as they spent half of the last gen denying there was a problem (until they were threatened by legal action).
They did deny it at first, but after the first year or so (not 'half of the last gen') they extended the warranty voluntarily and also replaced all of those RROD boxes that people were sending in. Yeah there was a high failure rate but you make it sound like there was no support for the end user, which there was.
Voluntarily? You make it sound as if MS extended that warranty out of sheer kindness to us early adopters. Wasn't there a threat of litigation? My personal experience was two RROD's back to back with my last replacement box scratching every disc I owned....When I contacted MS I was told it was my fault, I must have moved the console while it was running and they would not replace my console again or any of the scratched discs. This was before the BBC watchdog investigation brought it to public light that they had chosen to not use a bumper on the the disc drive in order to save a few pennies....To this day they still maintain it's the users fault that those discs were scratched. I would bring up "E74" but that was after I became an early un-adopter.
We have yet to see. The GPU is being underclocked as to avoid certain performance and heat issues. That is just what we currently know. Since the One was clearly a rush job, who knows what other myriad of issues there will be? How do we know the new Kinect won't crap out and render the One useless? Its a risk buying one of those. A gamble due to the rush and uncertainty.
'The GPU is being underclocked as to avoid certain performance and heat issues. That is just what we currently know. ' You currently don't know jack as this is a rumour and most likely a false rumour as it doesn't make much sense. 'Since the One was clearly a rush job'. Oh? care to fill us in on how you 'clearly' know this? Just popped it out last minute did they, without spending years on it? Yeah I'm sure you're right... </s>
Look at the actions of MS over the last 2 months! They had to delay their reveal due to being surprised by SONY. They backtracked on every single statement initially made concerning DRM and fees. Jesus man, don't expect everyone to do your homework for you. The console is an utter mess and is not ready for mass production. The fact that the GPU needs to be underclocked is a clear indication of the quick and careless approach to it's design, and frankly, we shouldn't be surprised seeing as faulty hardware is their M.O. (RROD, noisy drives, crappy medium format)
One does not simply create a huge console and still have RROD http://abload.de/img/huge-x...
Simple. You downclock the GPU, like you're doing now.
That's great news that it wont have the 360's high failure rate.. must mean that it is only going to have the 2nd highest.
Hey what are tomorrows lotto winning numbers?
He's probably right. I don't remember the last time I heard of someone complaining that their cable box over heated and died.
i will believe that when i see it, i for one after owning a total of 7 Xbox 3FixMes have vowed to never give Microsoft another penny, and so far i don't see any need for buying a spy cable box, i will just play most of its exclusives on my gaming pc, with better frame rates and higher resolutions, and keep my PS4 and Wii U for all those great true first party exclusives which will be released on the PS4 and Wii U, and my pc and PS3 will be for everything else, shame my current slim 360 hasn't been turned on for ages, lol at Microsoft since that is the console which should have been released in the first place, instead we got the arcade 360, the premium, the elite, and even the slim all had problems, LMAO at this guy, only retards would take Microsoft's word for it, they knowingly sold faulty hardware, and only implemented the free extended warranties after being threatened with law suits! shame on you M$!
What issues did the slim have?
RED DOT OF DEATH, mine would not power up, when i pressed the power button it would make the ping sound and not turn on, also the power bricks would go dead, which also happened to me, both problems were pretty common, either way i don't understand it, my original xbox the O.G works flawless to this day and was a well built console, i even bought a crystal O.G xbox, and now own 2, both work perfectly, they obviously rushed the 360, and i hope they don't do the same with the xbone, any how i wont be buying one at launch! i just dont trust them!
Same here I got burnt by them And they will never get my money again
PS3 NEVER FAILS LOL!
that yellow light proves you wrong
Dude, I actually have 2 xbox 360's both over 5 years old and both are still fine, my first PS3 however yellow lighted within 6 months, that's just my experience, and I am sure I can't be the only one...
go look up the statistics for xbox 360 failure rates compared to PS3 failure rates, the difference is staggering, the 360 was massively flawed in design, what makes it worse is that Microsoft knew this and still sold them, that is disgusting treatment of your consumers, yes the PlayStation 3 did have fail rates, as does ALL ELECTRONIC DEVICES, but the PS3 ratio is normal, but the 360 ratio of failed consoles was estimated to be 54.2% that is terrible!
"Dude, I actually have 2 xbox 360's both over 5 years old and both are still fine, my first PS3 however yellow lighted within 6 months, that's just my experience, and I am sure I can't be the only one... " On this site, you could be near-certain to be the only one.
Ha, indeed!!! I stand corrected good sir!
I read somewhere that they have had to underclock it so it won't RROD. http://throwingdigitalsheep... PS4 wins.
When the best thing you hear about a console is that it's not guaranteed to break in a few months of use, you know there's something wrong.
But if your Kinect breaks by user action or manufacturing defect then your technically working One won't work. Even if One is like most electronics with an approx 5% failure rate, both the console and Kinect will have that rate, increasing the probability of your console not working. How much would it suck if 3 years down the road you get a brand new Halo game come home, and your kid, cleaning lady, dog, etc. knocked down your Kinect and broke it, or it just stopped working as is sometimes the case with cameras and electronics and as a result your One is inoperable until you spend another $150 on a Kinect you never use.
That's not what I heard.... http://www.neogaf.com/forum...
Xbox 1 had Thompson Drive chewed the hell out of game discs... Xbox 360 had HUGE RRoD I went though 3 of them... friend had the same problem... so IF ... BIG IF I was to buy one... I would wait 4 to 6 months... Why cause than I could find out if there was anything wrong with the build. Also waiting is not so bad... get a bundle or game packed in on a sale and know that the system is solid is a huge piece of mind... THAT said No one will know until AFTER the launch 3 or 4 months into it...
Fuck that.. im waiting on buying xb1, I just been through too many 360's cause of rrod. While I was happy I didnt have pay to fix them I was pissed when my wife got me "trinity" and 1month after warranty the damn thing couldnt read games it played everythint else fine arcade games music and movies just not 360 games and ms wanted 150 to fix it that was half the damn price of the console.. Im sorry ms but u will have to wow the hell out of me at e3. Killer instinct might do it but it has to be great like back in the day..
Well that's good to know. They won't be FUCKING the consumer this time, while being completely aware of what they were doing. What a great company lol...
I had it happen to both of my x-boxs. All together 7 times, so they can suck it, swallow it, and regurgitate it for later.
