Eidos Life President Says Nintendo Should Put Their Franchises Elsewhere. We Disagree.

SuperPhillip Central writes, "Life president of Eidos, Ian Livingstone, said something that is one of the most tired-- no-- rehashed arguments in the gaming industry. This is what he said:

"Nintendo should have their IP on every platform. Otherwise a whole generation of young people will miss out on their games."

Mr, Livingstone, we presume... you are wrong. Yes, this constant argument that Nintendo should either put their IPs on iOS, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation Vita, Wonderswan, SEGA CD, PC, Mac, Linux, Steam, or whatever else you can come up with is one that just isn't going to die, it seems."

Nintendo is like Scrooge McDuck they have tons of money but cheap with spending cash on new franchises/hardware

They also have this awesome Scottish accent.

While I agree up to a point, the fact that they're funding the likes of Bayonetta 2 says a lot.

Nintendo need to play it a little more safely than Microsoft and Sony, partly because they don't have as many different areas to fall back on, but also because they've managed to get themselves into a corner of the industry where they're competing, but not really competing.

@NYC gamer
I disagree, The funded Xenoblade, The Last Story, and Pandora's tower all new franchises.

They're funding Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, Bayonetta 2, Bravely Default Flying Fairy, Sonic Lost Words and more we don't know about at E3.

Plus they paid for Castlevania LOS Mirror of Fate on 3DS, published Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate in Japan. Paid for exclusive Dragon Quest games.

I really don't know what you're talking about.

animegamingnerd2017d ago (Edited 2017d ago )

yeah nintendo is pretty much the only trying to get 3rd party exclusives also don't forgot they releases a lot of new IP'S on the 3DS eshop

miyamoto2016d ago (Edited 2016d ago )

Those are new titles or IPs alright but not really created by nor owned by Nintendo. And the fact is Nintendo cannot be arsed to make these kind of new IPs anyway. They let others do the dirty work
For them because they have aclean image to protect.and hang on to.

No first party is working on non-Nintendo owned Is.

the HD tites you mentioned are proof Nintendo is not ready to make HD games for Wii U on their own all by themselves.

Their bah humbug Mr Scrooge Ebenezer nickle and diming with dated hardware and sofware attitude has finally bit them in their behind asses and have them handed to themselves.

Peter Pantendo either has to wait for new gen kids to play with or have a lot of growing up to do to be even relevant to gamers who finally grown up and out grew them.

@ below commenters

I cant wait for the next kiddie gimmick Nintendo will offer kids and soccer moms after the wiiremote fad and disasterous sega dreamcast vmu wanna be gamepad because M$ beat them to it with Kinect. Check Apple's follow up to iPad product maybe there is a new product for them to copy after the tv remote and the tablet.

Nintendo owns the IP to Xenoblade, they own Monolith Soft. Nintendo purchased them in 2007, therefore making them a first party studio.

Nintendo owns The Last Story and Pandora's Tower IPs as well. I think you need do some research before you type all this nonsense.
