Nintendo Is Responsible For Limited Use Demos

Game Informer: ''The 3DS is becoming a hotbed of wonderful and unique experiences. This year alone has seen the fantastic Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, a great portable Monster Hunter, and challenging strategy with Fire Emblem: Awakening. One of the next big titles, Project X Zone (a collaboration between Capcom, Namco Bandai, and Sega) arrives on June 25, but the demo is available now.

Unfortunately, when we added the trial to our consoles, we noticed that it can only be activated a total of five times. With three weeks to go before the title's release, that puts us in a tough position as we try to figure out how to space out or time with the crazy character mashup. We also wanted to know exactly why this is the case.''

While Nintendo did set a limit as a standard for their demos, the publisher ultimately chooses that limit. If the Project X Zone demo is limited to only five playthroughs then that low limit was set by Capcom. This has been known for a while, actually.

And if you like the demo enough to play it more than five times, why aren't you getting the full game anyway?

1: may not have the money to buy it yet

2: because they simply enjoy the demo enough to be fine with just that

3:Some humans need more then 5 trys to be sure of a purchase because they might change thier mind during further demo playthroughs

I dont think it was a wise choice to put limits on demos to begin with.. Why cant they just do things normally? I agree with you about playing a demo so much but they still shouldnt have done that

it's smart and better for developers to limit demos. idk how many psp games i didn't buy because i could just play the demo over and over.

Perfect example of how some of you think that a company's goal is anything other than profit.

The goal of companies is to sell games and they are under no obligation to provide you with any demo at all.

So, if a company decides to limit demo uses to encourage you to buy the actual game, then it can only benefit all of us as gamers. More copies sold means more chances at a sequel.

This belly-aching about number of demo uses is ridiculous. If you only play demos because you can't afford retail versions of games then you need a less expensive hobby.
