PS3 Vegas 2 suffering from online "itis," fix coming

Over the weekend, many shooter fans were enjoying time with Ubisoft's recently released title Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. While those playing the Xbox 360 version had few problems, PlayStation 3 owners were left out in the cold: bugs, disconnection issues, freezing, and a wide variety of problems are marring the otherwise-strong multiplayer action in its PS3 form.

One GameFAQs reader sent a scathing email to Ubisoft only to get back a response from a customer service representative that the "issue is currently being worked on by the development team." An ETA was not given, but the rep noted that "it should not be long."

Since when did sequels become expansion packs. It's an entirely new campaign and new multiplayer maps (well some of them anyways). I mean there aren't a lot of new features but calling it an expansion pack is a bit of a stretch.

Haze should be ok. It's a PS3 exclusive, at least for right now anyway. So it should be highly optimized for the PS3.

I'm very disappointed with Ubisoft for this. It's not like this was their first PSN online game. I don't see how they messed this up so bad! RS:V1 was fine, but 2 is unplayable on line! I'll be playing COD4 until they fix it but I was considering returning the game. :(

the first one wasnt "fine" by any means, we all just got used to the problems, knowing that ubi didnt care about the ps3 then, and obviously they dont care now. maybe soon they will realize this is the year of the ps3 and they better get a better development team or they are going to lose alot of gamers support.

its just as crappy as the first and ubisofts other games.. im not buying any ubisoft game anymore. After rainbowsix, ac, lost the game.. im done and glad i am, because i would be pissed more if i would've bought this piece of crap. Rb6 has some really good potential.. but they just dont care about that stuff, they only see cash. Dont expect any update soon, waited for ever on the first one.. not even gonna bother running it anymore to check if theres finally any support to fix some major bugs. so screw them, they screw you.

my son & I have been playing from day 1 & all weekend long, we don't have the problems the article speaks of.

We have 2 360's for co-op along with 2 copies of Vegas 2 and had nothing but fantastic experiences each & every time we've played.

You get what you pay for, $50 a year doesn't seem so expensive after all, now does it?

What makes me more mad is how well put together all the 'paid for advertising' in the game. The comcast banners don't have glitches, the MLG map looks flawless, yet the content that is SUPPOSE to work doesn't. Not to mention, some of these mistakes and bugs are BASIC programming problems you learn in highschool courses. Maybe they should focus on producing a GAME and not a marketing strategy.

all first-day purchasers of this game for encountering all these problems so that when I buy this thing in a month or so, they will have been fixed.

Seriously, agree that it seems like some software companies are falling back on the patch system to get their product to market sooner. Can't blame them, they need to turn profits to make their investment start to pay off sooner. There's good and bad- software updates are available via the patch system, but consumers may have to put up with some glitches early on.

This game is crap I have already sold it on ebay. It is not just the online problems. The graphics are terrible, the gameplay is slllooowww, and the shooting is terrible. CoD is so much better.

@iMad: P2P is terrible and R6V2 is P2P for PS3. So is CoD4. Unlike Lag Free R:FoM or Warhawk. Both of which are superb online experiences compared to R6V and CoD.

Oh yes...the game is great in single player but online...absolutely horrible. This is hands down the most broken online system I have ever played.

Great to hear a patch is coming "again", I can only hope they just don't promise a patch but never release one like they did for PS3's Part 1.

I have already told several of my friends to hold off on purchasing this until a patch is released.

Just more evidence that multiplatform games on the PS3 are mostly failures even a year after the system has been on the market. This is no excuse for the Crapstation and Sonys plague on gaming.

Media should test the game online then give the review because the 360 is the better game, obviously.

I am not having any problems playing the 360 version online. This once again shows that multiplatform games look and play better on the 360. You get what you pay for with the CRAPSTATION3 and it's tacked on cheap online service.

Firstly, I owned the first Rainbow Six Vegas ps3 version.

If u did ur homework and read about it when u first purchased it, the blurry graphics were easily fixed by forcing ur display mode to 720p in stead of the upconversion the game did to 1080i.

So that problem was solved.

Secondly, I am playing the single player Campaign for VEGAS 2, and its lovely, and highly enjoyable. Much like the first game.

I highly doubt they wont be releasing a patch soon to fix the connection glitches for the MP mode.

Remember when COD4 came out? it was racked with online connection glitches...

So give these guys some credit and be patient.

Vegas 2 is fun. I am glad I bought it. I think the SP mode alone is worth the purchase. But u have to like these kinda games and the whole series in general, especially if u played them on PC before the console versions even were avail.
