GC writes - We live in a world that loves to be scared. Horror movies come out in floods every year and are met with droves of people seeking the thrill of fear. Unfortunately the Horror genre has become saturated over the past few years with people confusing blood and gore with actual fear. It’s not just movies though. Franchises such as Resident Evil have implemented so many new elements into their games it could be easily passed off as an action game rather than its original survival horror badge it still prides itself on. Back in 2010 however, there was a glimmer of hope. Something that should be credited for bringing the Let’s Play videos that now fill every corner of YouTube into fashion. Something that brought many to the attention of a Swedish man with an iconic scream. Something that reminded us that it is the fear of the unknown, the fear of the supernatural, the fear of being completely useless that is actual horror. Frictional Games, the folks behind the Penumbra franchise, delivered this glimmer of horrific hope, Amnesia: The Dark Descent. A game that garnered critical acclaim and horrified players worldwide. Now three years later, developer thechineseroom have teamed up with Frictional Games to truly test how hard we will hit the floor screaming. This is Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs. That title is enough to get us hooked. Drool on the keyboard worthy.
