Shadow Of The Eternals COO Says A Release ‘Is Unlikely’ If Kickstarter Goal Falls Short

Despite all of their YouTube videos, despite all of their blog posts and communication with fans, Kickstarter funded Shadow of the Eternals for the Wii U is falling short of its expected success. And the campaign is starting to show its first cracks, as Precursor Games’ COO Shawn Jackson has spoken to fans over Reddit claiming the title may disappear into the shadows if it falls short of the target.

Shadow of the Eternals’ Kickstarter funding looks bleak; the page has raised just short of $115,000, and with only 18 days to go the future sure doesn’t look too bright for the episodic horror game. When asked by a fan over Reddit if the title will still be created if funding isn’t met, or if Precursor Games has any back-up plans, Jackson could only be truthful. Let us know what you think of Jackson’s statement in the comments below.

“Since we do not have any other source of funding, it is unlikely. We will entertain all options to make this game a reality because we believe in this project. However, we can’t be sure a publisher will share our vision for interacting with the community during development or this would work in the traditional model.” – Shawn Jackson, COO at Precursor Games

I don't understand why Nintendo is not funding this game. Seriously, something good coming to the Wii U, and somehting people have actually been asking for....

just-joe1791d ago

Then it be a Wii U exclusive and people would bitch.

LonDonE1791d ago (Edited 1791d ago )

the first eternal darkness was a game cube exclusive and so only Nintendo gamers played it, most other gamers who play on pc an playstation and xbox don't have a clue what the game is, and so have no right really to bitch about anything, this game and franchise was always a Nintendo exclusive and i think the sequel should be too! sorry but that's how i feel, it should be a exclusive, DealWithIt!!!!!!!!!!! lol

Aceman181791d ago

i played Eternal Darkness and had all 3 systems.
it was my favorite game on Gamecube.

seriously Nintendo needs to step up and help fund this game because i've been waiting a long time for a sequel to this game.

InsaneChronos1791d ago

Because no one is interested in this game. The hype for Eternal Darkness or Shadow of the Elementals is just words. No one is interested to pay for the games. And the fail of this Kickstarter campaign proves my opinion.

Aceman181791d ago

exactly i've been saying this same thing. Eternal Darkness was my favorite Gamecube game, and this would be perfect for the Wii U.

why the hell didn't Dennis just go to Nintendo and asked them to help fund this game for exclusives rights? why hasn't Nintendo done the same?

this just baffles me

Munnkyman1791d ago

He prob has gone to nintendo. But with his reputation prob kills any funding

Aceman181791d ago

That's a shame if true because we have chance to get a sequel to what I believe is one of the greatest games from last he generation.

Nevers0ft1791d ago

It may be the case that Nintendo are as wary of who is behind the game as we are. They way Precursor Games has handled this fundraising is reminiscent of the way they used to behave when half the staff was still Silicon Knights... Fishy, very very fishy.

I doubt it would reach with Denis Dyacks name attached to the project....

I sure would not support him... not after attacks on gamers and the unprofessionalism

sherimae24131791d ago

if they named it "shadow of the colossus 2" instead, im already one of its backers, lol ^_^ it wont happen anyway..

maybe some people are not yet aware of this.... or not interested in this game?
and a $1.5 million fund for a episodic game, isnt it a little bit ambitious?

yugovega1791d ago

I agree. at that price this game should be a full release I could go to best buy and pick up. there are plenty of kickstarters that are being funded for less then a 3rd of this games cost. perhaps that's why Nintendo isn't pushing for this game to be made.

Blues Cowboy1791d ago (Edited 1791d ago )

I worry that Dyack is just too toxic for this to succeed - even if he doesn't deserve some of the flack. Might he be better off publically distancing himself from the game, but then consulting/freelancing during development on a purely creative level?

Neonridr1791d ago

It's a shame, I backed this project because I love the idea behind it. I could care less if Denis Dyack is attached to it. I hate EA and think they have the worst business ethics around, but that won't stop me from playing the next Dead Space or Battlefield.

I wish Nintendo would step in and save this before the project is lost.
