Will Microsoft Invade Your Privacy With Xbox One?

Suck My Trend - The Kinect has become a big feature for many games on the current Xbox 360 so it seems like a sensible decision for Microsoft to try to continue to capitalize on this with the upcoming Xbox One. In fact the company is planning to ship the Kinect with the new console instead of merely selling it separately. Does the tech giant have an ulterior motive for this though? Will Microsoft invade your privacy with Xbox One?

At the current moment, I've decided that I won't be buying an Xbox One, so it doesn't really matter to me specifically; however, I still hate the new Kinect.

Apparently, one of the reasons that it always monitors you is so that MS can shove 'more accurate' advertisement in our faces. Great...just what gamers have always been asking for.

hey...everyone on the internet...your privacy is being invaded right now. Yep, RIGHT NOW. Let's not all hit deactivate on Facebook at once.

...oh, you still online?

EDIT:

@Kyosuke_Sanada "Broadcasting what you are doing and someone watching what you are doing without permission is two different things........"

"someone watching what you are doing without permission is two different things"

"hey...everyone on the internet...your privacy is being invaded right now. Yep, RIGHT NOW."

lol so what's your point? You think you aren't being monitored or have been at one point in your life without you knowing? Get real.

@FlameBaitGod lol don't act like you know me.

@Blaze929

yeah Facebook vs being watched and heard. Don't have to be too bright to choose Facebook but hey you have always been a xbox fanboy, you have no hope of recovery bro.

Edit: Don't have to know u IRL, been hear for years like U have with diff accounts and you always post the same sheet. If your comments don't represent how really feel about the subjects then you have a personality issue.

KillrateOmega1545d ago (Edited 1545d ago )

I don't even have a Facebook. Yeah, I know, I'm a dinosaur.

You're making the same argument that every Xbox fanboy makes in response to my type of criticism: you bring up the whole 'we already have been exposed to monitoring devices, so more of them is completely dandy' argument.

I realize that I'm being monitored in some manner (for example, my internet usage), but that doesn't mean that I have to like it. Sorry, but I'm not ready to happily surrender my privacy at every turn.

Blaze9291545d ago (Edited 1545d ago )

It's not even about being okay with it or saying what Microsoft is doing here is okay. It's the simple fact that anyone talking about privacy invasion 'on' the internet is a fool. It's not about privacy in this situation - you just don't like the Xbox One. Just say that and move on lol

Oh, and when I say you I don't mean you specifically KillrateOmega. Just all the Xbox One haters in general.

Why don't you spread your ass a little more since you seem to enjoy getting screwed over.

Can't spy on me if i don't buy it.

Checkmate Microsoft.

headblackman1545d ago

no but the Sony eyetoy can still spy on you just like the kinect you call yourself running from. buy the xcbox one and if feel weird, just cover it with a towel or turn it off with the power switch or unplug it. make sense?

ThatCanadianGuy5141545d ago

You're missing the point entirely, my friend.Kinect is mandatory for the xbox to work. You can't just shut it off.

Eyetoy isn't mandatory.I don't need it.I shouldn't have to deal with that, or have to wrap a towel around a camera for privacy's sake.

Godmars2901545d ago

Kinect 2.0 actively tracks users and their motions so covering the camera wont help.

That said if PSeye is similar, has to be connected to the system for the system to work, that's going to be more than enough of a deal breaker not to buy it.

ACESupERIC1545d ago

That's the problem. You CAN'T unplug the kinect. You can however unplug eyetoy. MS says you can turn it off but with it being part of the hardware and software that leaves it open to hacking. If I don't plug the eyetoy in it can't be hacked. Not being a sony fanboy either because the way things are looking for both consoles I'm probably going pc only next gen. Unless both companies drop the drm/used game plans and ms make kinect diskinectable and get rid of the paywall. Peace

Baaahahahahahahahah!! lol, I 2nd this...I wld never buy XboxOne, Spyware DRM Anti-Consumer practices like Used Game fees, monitoring heartrates & infer-red?? really? ok well you just ensured I wld NEVER purchase this. more ad's? lol, thats 1of the reasons I HATE televison & dont watch it. Im not surprised though...its too bad I cant spill the beans as to what this all means.. the sheeple & fearful wouldnt be able to handle the truth.

Im not gonna be surprised if PS4 has some if not all of the same Tech & plans.
Yeah yea PS fanboys I know I know you don't believe me cause Sony said this & that blah blah blah right? there leaving it up to developers or publishers to decide to impliment or not lol...& i suppose it never crossed your mind that they will by in large if not all decide to be Anti-Consumer also? lol...living in a fantasy world if you dont believe me..the proof you say? lol...E3 will be a start, the start of weeping being heard the World over...lol

you'll see.

MrAnderson1545d ago

No because I won't buy one.

My_Name_BTW_Is_Dante1545d ago

No. Even if it did, it's only on when you're using it and apparently there will be settings to turn off the camera function. It won't matter if you're just playing a game and if you're that paranoid you could always just unplug it after use.
