Quantum Break Gameplay Will Push The Boundaries Of How People Think Of Live Action And Gaming Today

Our most ambitious game yet, says Remedy
"The unique capability of Remedy,is around storytelling," Spencer said. "And television's always been a great place to tell strong stories. We've got this interactive component ... where actions in one and viewing in one, impact what people are doing in the other. That's our creative idea."

Show some gameplay and we'll judge it by ourselves.

DOMination-1818d ago

I think what we saw was essentially gameplay. I believe it will be an interactive live action movie. You'll make decisions but it'll be played out by real actors/cgi. How you make these decisions will be the key part though - it could just end up being really boring but I'm excited by the idea and curious by how it will be utilising the cloud.

That's actually kind of lame to be honest.

Mono-san1817d ago (Edited 1817d ago )

I think that's pretty much the case. Probably a show you can only watch via XboxOne's TV features.

Thinking about it, it would come off as a somewhat natural evolution to Alan Wake's episodic structure.

TheOneWhoIsTornApart1818d ago (Edited 1818d ago )

I thought that was very impressive graphically to be honest. The part with the bridge breaking up dynamically i mean.

Skate-AK1818d ago

Depends on if it's in-engine or CGI.

ZodTheRipper1817d ago

This wasn't dynamically though. Dynamically would be the kind of destruction Battlefield for example offers. This is clearly a scripted cutscene in which the player can't move his character.

TheOneWhoIsTornApart1817d ago

@Zod. We can't know that yet. I agree with Skate on that we need to know whether or not if its CGI or in-engine first but that very well could still be using the ingame engine to break that bridge apart. But yes your right if its CGI than its not dynamic and im wrong but i guess we will find out. I dont know why any developer would use pre renderd footage of there next gen title.

ZodTheRipper1817d ago (Edited 1817d ago )

Of course it's in-engine, what are you thinking? This is next gen stuff, but it's clearly a scripted cutscene made with the ingame engine so it's NOT fully dynamic (like the descrution in Battlefield, for example). This seems to be a cinematic-heavy game so there will be a handful of those impressive scenes but they won't be "dynamic" in that matter.
In our time, almost EVERY game's cutscene is made in-engine (one of the few examples where it's not is the CGI Intro of Final Fantasy 13), since there is no need for pure CGI with the kind of hardware we have.

HammadTheBeast1817d ago (Edited 1817d ago )

Are you guys serious? This is plainly CG. No, it's not in-engine, a $900 PC would melt if that was being played on it.

@State. yes agreed. But I have a feeling it is.

camel_toad1818d ago

Yeh I've always liked Remedy. Their games always seem to do something a little new.

hennessey861818d ago

The disagree fairs are out again, I can't think of a remedy game that I didn't like and I can only imagine what they will be able to do on next gen consoles. It's pathetic really, Sony fanboys expect everyone to praise Sony exclusives but ridicule exclusives on other platforms.

nukeitall1818d ago

I really liked Alan Wake and the atmosphere was just awesome. However, I was a little confused by the game.

Remedy is one of those companies that after all these years still got their mojo!

DOMination-1817d ago

I was honestly underwhelmed by Alan Wake but that's often the way with games that went through development hell. There's no doubt they are a very creative team and MS are lucky to have them making another exclusive game.

This game has me interested because I have always thought games would go down this route eventually. Quantic Dream have been the only ones brave enough to do it so far, and I'm pleased they had such success with Heavy Rain.

extermin8or1817d ago

the thing with ALan wake is I personally think it would have had better sales had it been on Ps3 (plus i wanted it-although I have it now on pc :p) because games that are slightly different, last gen did typically have more success on ps3 even with sony's iffy advertising (which is improving) tham their 360 counterparts. I.e: Heavy Rain did quite well, Demons Souls did exceptionally better than expected, flower, journey and so on. So if this is a mash up of film (live action) and game of some kind I think this would have a better chance on the playstation-after all there's no denying the ratio of 'gamers' that just play the likes of COOD,Fiffa and GTA and little else is higher on xbox than on playstation. Last gen anyway and from people I've spoken too that have already decided and have decided on xbox-it's for COD.
Who knows though?

vega2751818d ago

I cant wait to see more on this game.

Baka-akaB1818d ago

I was hoping the live action parts would only be for teasers and trailers ...

Skate-AK1818d ago

Sounds like the live action parts are from a show that will air on XBone.

"What makes it really interesting is the show connection," he said. "We do have a live action show to go with that, and link to it in a very, very interesting and exciting way - creating this really big interactive experience together - the game and the show. You'll see more of that really soon, I can't really go into more detail."

Baka-akaB1818d ago (Edited 1818d ago )

Good to know then . I'm not much and usually fan of live scenes in-game .

Thatguy-3101817d ago

Exactly seems a bit cheesy.

Blackdeath_6631817d ago

same because the acting was really bad in the trailer
