Pitting Sony's racing juggernaut against Microsoft's direct competitor, Gamers Association editor Curtis Stone explores the past and present states of Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport to declare the best racing simulator available.
Oh god... This is going to end in bloodshed.
Time for battle
I thought sales determined the better game? GT5 sold 10 copies which is more than ALL 3 Forza games COMBINED on the Xbox 360. People voted with their wallets and GT5 is the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be.
Hey did you know that sim games like ARMA, Lock On, iRacing etc. sell poor compared to Gran Turismo series. 1st. Take your fanboy glasses off 2nd. Here let me help you: http://insidesimracing.tv/ http://www.youtube.com/watc...
Played Gran Turismo since psone..i can safely say that forza put gran turismo in its place. Forza is a more quality racer. Hopefully gt6 has learnt from the best. Since forza 1, gran turismo has been beat and stomped on.
GT actually made gamers to racers... need i say more?
Just try to drive GT and Forza using a pro wheel to know the difference.
GT is incredible with the steering wheel. I've always played past GTs with the dual shock before but I wanted to get a wheel for GT5 and its incredible. The first time I used it, it was even a struggle to drive fast in a straight line because the thing really pulls on you. But once you get used to it, you won't go back. When you drive on a rally track, the wheel makes you look like you've got Parkinson's, it's violent and you really have to fight the wheel. But then when you drive on snow and ice the steering becomes so light and when you hit patches of ice, the resistance in the wheel completely disappears and you can't steer at all. The first time I experienced that, I truly realised how good this game is. Not even gonna continue with the GT vs forza debate. There's only one king. And the other guy only got into it because of GT. Do the new forza even attempt to be simulators? I thought they were quite openly competing with the need for speed market. Petrol runs through Kaz Yamauchi's veins. And his passion comes through in his work.
Thank you @Shadow Flare and Ethomaz 98% of the websites who reviewed both GT5 and Forza did so using the standards controllers. How in the heck can you review a RACING SIM without using a Force Feedback Steering Wheel? That is similar to swallowing your food without ever chewing it. I challenge any reviewer of the game to a race with us both using a steering wheel, I bet 98 percent of them can't complete a lap without touching the grass. Yet those are the same guys that decides which game is better. A joke I tell you. Btw, this is me playing on the Suzuka Circuit, with Rain/Dynamic weather, 0 Traction Control, Rain Tires, 0 assist, and Manual Transmission, with Logitec Driving Force GT Wheel. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watc...
Which wheel did you end up getting? I am looking to get a wheel myself but the T500 is just too expensive. I am hoping the logitech G27 is compatible with PS4!!
@gamersciz I chose the same as Cupid, the Logitech Driving Force GT. At the time I got it, it was a reasonable price compared to others and it offered a great experience. I don't know what the steering wheel scene is like these days but the driving force GT is an excellent wheel. If you're getting a wheel, you have to find something to clamp it on though, whether its a desk, a stand, an xbone, because it will be unusable if its not clamped rigid. Not that I'm a salesman, but I recommend this stand, it's the one I got and its just really convenient and the its a good product. http://youtu.be/70OosIWxr7I Though these days there may be better stuff. But if you have the means to get a wheel, I recommend it, it changes the game Nice replay btw, Cupid. Such a great game
@ Shadow Thanks man, I've been playing GT franchise for 14 years now, going back to 1999 when I first came to the United States. I don't know how to upload pictures in the comment section, but we have the exact same wheel and Stand. I bought the stand from that website and at the time it was going for $150.00. I also play GT5 in 3D using my Sony HMZ-T1 Personal 3D Viewer, http://www.expertreviews.co... Which I bought specifically for Killzone 3, Uncharted 3, and GT5. The experience in my opinion is unrivaled.
Force feedback steering wheels? Awesome!
I've said it before and I'll say it again. GT5 was not meant to be played with a controller. Here's my setup, is a replica of Chillycoke's, look him up on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watc...
Lol. Haha clip it to a XBone. That was a good one.
same here, always raced with the pad untill I bought a wheel for gt5 and its like night and day.I race with abs off and its awesome feeling,I got so many good things to say but its getting late.Cant wait for gt6.good night
Hi shadow-This is my racing rig I built myself when I had spare time.I race with DFGT which is perfect for me.I race mostly gt500 at Nurb.If anyone is interested can add me my psn Id is vlonjati77. https://www.youtube.com/wat...
GRAN TURISMO IS KING! It's a SIMULATOR!
Arcade racers with sim elements to them, compared to iracing they are like mario kart. Even race 07 has better physics, I've tried GT5 with my fanatecGT2 and the car felt glued to the track and forza is way to loose but to say one is better then the other is ridiculous. They are both good at what they do but to call gt5 or forzaa sim obviously means you have never driven a real sim before.
GT Academy seems to prove otherwise... http://www.gtplanet.net/gt-...
Try driving a real race car sometime and you will understand how they actually handle, GT5s "glued to the track" is actually realistic. Slow down and stop trying to go around corners at 200mph. GT5 vs real life on Laguna seca. http://www.youtube.com/watc... Even the lap times were near spot on to within 74ms. Here is another video. http://www.youtube.com/watc...
Which is the better game I think its debatable. The better sim however I have to say is GT hands down, not even close.
Why not use software sales to judge which title car and driving enthusiasts prefere? Anyways............ when Forza came to the 360 I played it, I honestly prefered GT4 on my PS2 and I believe the same will happen with GT6 and Forza on XBone. Of coarse compared to my PS2 driving sim Forza on 360 looked great and had lots of features, but the driving and feeling of GT4 made up for the modest hardware. GT6 will keep me satisfied until Polyphony can fully utilise the PS4. GT6 on PS3 really is looking improved from GT5. Forza is very good, but GT is supremely good. XBone hardware is good (minus the taxing operating systems x 3 ect ect), but compared to it PS4 is supremely good. Polyphony will remain the best. Just is.
I played Forza 4 with a controller and had absolutely no problem steering, staying off the grass etc. This told me everything I needed to know, GT all the way.
Drive Club vs Forza Gt6 vs Gt5
Depends on what the player likes to play. For me, Forza, while someone i know prefers GT.
Forza hands down
Some will go by sales and some will go by reveiew scores to compare the series. I find I could careless about this comparision at this point. GT is on a current gen console and Forza will be on a Next gen console vastly improving apon what made Forza the Number One scoring SIM(Don't try it either I'm talking FZ vs GT and not GT when there was no FZ) EDIT LOL disagrees. There is no point in comparing the Number One scoring SIM franchise that has moved on to Next gen with ten times the power of the current Xbox and Possibly 30 times(with cloud) to a current gen SIM that is popular yet lower scoring. What do you think is going to happen with Forza on Next gen? Weather, night racing, Rally, offroad(thanks to Horizon) etc etc .
You don't have rewinds in a sim. The drive model in Forza is not sim-like. It borders on arcade and that is a fact. Green stop talking crap about the cloud. I'll tell you this right now, xboxone is an underpowered machine compared to PS4, cloud will not help. But if you really want to compare. FORZA 5 VS DRIVECLUB.
You can't stop a race mid way and restart it either in a sim so I don't see your point in rewind.... Forza does not boarder on arcade, your "fact" is nothing but fanboy ignorance. GT playing like bumber cars and not having an interior view for all cars is by far more arcade then any forza game ever released. How are those sim oil changes? LMFAO Forza 5 already has Drive Club in it however Drive club will pale in comparison to features as to what Forza offers let alone the HUGE amount of car manufacturers....good luck with drive club getting anywhere near the licences for cars that Forza has. LMFAO to even think about it just makes me roll on the floor laughing at you comparing Drive Club to Forza... So delusional
GT5 already has weather, night racing, and rally events
Honestly GranTurismo looks and feels miles better ahead of Forza using either the control pad or with a steering wheel. You can clearly tell the moment you feel how the cars' physics react during gameplay. That is why GranTurismo is and always be the benchmark in **console racing. What Forza has in spades I believe are the tracks and huge array of European hypercars. Best variation on race/city circuits I have seen and played on. Turn 10 really picked some of the best on Forza.
"HD and Prologue are usually counted secondary, so it’s rather unfair to list them as official, yeah?" True, but the PSP game should also be considered. Sure they had a long development time, but they also had a lot of distractions that Turn 10 has not had to deal with.
Like what sort of Distractions? They only make 1 game brand consistently. They have over 140 members on the team. GT HD/P were released 4 years prior to 5, GT 4 was released 2 years before those with GT3 2 years before that. And GT PSP was just a modified GT4 with far less content. There isn't anything to distract them, Instead they are wasting time on things many of the fans do not care about. And would rather see other problems fixed on release. Not patched 2 years later.
