GiR: CastleStorm starts off with a story that explains the history of war between the Kingship and the Barbarians. After much bloodshed, the Goddess of peace gave each side a crystal that granted eternal life and everyone went on to do their own thing. Sir Gareth, Protector of the Realm, does what he does best when the peace is shattered and takes to his Ballista to protect his castle, command his troops and cast devastating magic from atop the castle wall. That is actually a little different from the way the game was originally described to me. Sir Gareth can also take to the battlefield as well to help dispatch your enemies, incorporating actual hack n' slash methods into the game too. The concept may not be 100% original but there are enough curve-balls that it isn't really easy to tire from playing quickly.
