Call of Duty: Ghosts has Kinect voice commands on Xbox One

Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg has confirmed that the Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Ghosts will have some form of Kinect voice commands. Speaking to VentureBeat, Hirshberg said, "I made a passing comment that you're going to see voice integration, voice commands via Kinect, which is something that we haven't done in the past with Call of Duty." He added that the improvements made to Kinect for Xbox One "really excite" the publisher...

I bet their basic commands like telling the dog "play dead" for stealth missions which can make a distraction.

LackTrue4K1607d ago

This didn't cross my mind until now..... "Voice command for the dog, would be cool"

sprinterboy1607d ago

hear boy, sit, roll over lol

NeverEnding19891607d ago

As mentioned below, EndWar showed that voice commands can be highly effective in video games.

I wasn't planning on buying X1 or Call of Duty, but I may rethink that depending how well the voice recognition integration is.

Yeah and EndWar shown us you don't need kinect for voice commands to work. With a bit of luck, Sony can also get voice command support using microphones. Would be a huge slap in the face to Microsoft if they could.

Boody-Bandit1607d ago

Hold on a second. I gotta mute my crazy loud kicking 7.4 sound system, which I usually play at reference levels, so Kinect can hear me. "I need a medic!" *unmute sound system and continues on ward*

Neverending1989: "I was never planning on buying X1"

The only bigger lie that has been said is "Better with Kinect".

MS showed a video of how good Kinect can tune out the noise, and essentially filter it down to the person talking.

From the demonstration it filtered out practically all the noise. Even more amazing is, the Kinect can tell if you are facing it and directing a command at it so you won't get commands from a movie that happens to say Xbox.

I can't seem to find the video now, since it was so random.

Basically solved most of the problems with the original Kinect.

Here is just one video of many:

The Kinect has special circuitry built in to enable this. Om the Xbox 360 and PS3 when using a regular microphone the speech recognition sucked. Kinect was way better, but still not good enough. Kinect One looks fantastic though.

except that sony and Zipper did it before, with SOCOM 2....

Have you ever been in a room with a system that can hit reference level or above clean (without causing ear fatigue)? TV sound and a bunch of voices in a room compared to that kind of sound pressure / volume is a whole other stratosphere.

The nickname for my subwoofers in my gaming room - Structural Damage (which I run 6dB hot). They are named that for a reason. ;)

slayorofgods1607d ago

Maybe I should dust off my old xbox 1.

nukeitall1607d ago

Because sound is just compressed waves and the Xbox knows what sound it emits, it can just subtract that portion out. It's not perfect, and it seems MS has done a damn good job with it.

I found a video, so check out the sound cancellation here:

"except that sony and Zipper did it before, with SOCOM 2...."

Yup and before that, it existed on PC!

MS having a smart phone before Apple did, wasn't huge slap to Apple. In fact, Apple is laughing all the way to the bank!

It's not about who has what first, it is about who does it better and which one gets adopted by the public!

I dont want to sound like a retard playing cod...
just imagine...

x box - cod dog - start attack - nearest enemy -

x box - cod dog - roll over - and - bring me some lemonade - That Cool Refreshing Drink

and MS will listen to you all and lough about it, some of them maybe will be live streamed through kinect (like those LIVE porn girls) :D
I tell you its going to happen!!!

and people should stop say word x box in your room from now on, or it will listen and give wrong commands..

Nope, sources say it's full voicecommand combined with Kinect, revolutionary stuff. Xbox, shoot that guy. No, I mean this guy! No no...Xbox shoot them all! No don't shoot those guys! Xbox stop shooting!

It's going to be a messacre. Only the dog will survive.

Shadonic1607d ago

I didnt train my dog right. Whenever i say roll over she walks around in a full circle and waits for some food to drop for the next 2 hours. She will not move until food is dropped.

Goro1607d ago

Voice commands is fucking stupid and incredibly frustrating...that's if it's as bad as Dragon's Dogma/Binary Domain's system

Perjoss1607d ago (Edited 1607d ago )

Did you ever play Tom Clancy's EndWar? the voice commands for that were eerily good, even adding stuff like 'erm' or pausing for a bit didn't make much diference, it was a solid addition and perfect for an RTS game, you could basically be doing 1 thing with the controller but also commanding other units with your voice.

edit: typical, phantom disagrees with no intelligent comments to go with them :)

Kouzmich1607d ago

Yup the EndWar stuff was epic.
My friend was just siting there and trying to send some troops to Zulu point for 20 min in tutorial , didn't complete the tutorial even. Then I just said use the controller .

waltercross1607d ago

what if you're playing in a house late at night when people are asleep?
