With Kinect now being a mandatory part of the Xbox One system, the prospects for developers could make for some interesting games.
They faked the demo of the OS, give me a break. Starwars was suppose to be mindblowing, Milo was suppose to be mindblowing, Steel Battalion was suppose to be mindblowing. Kinect isn't mindblowing. The only mindblowing thing about it is they constantly fake demos using it.
yeah keep that negative attitude going
Meaning you jump and hit a fan going full speed?
Somebody call me??
I think that there needs to be a great medium to combine Kinect with a game. Doing both Kinect and utilizing a controller for a game might in fact make a great experience playing said game. It's all about getting it done and figuring out when to use Kinect and when not to. Now that Kinect is released with each system it will help. Problem is not everybody asked for Kinect to be bundled. I'm getting a PS4 and I sure don't want PS4 eye(camera) haha but hey that's just me though. Give me another extra controller instead of Kinect/PS eye or give me death!!
Being positive about a device that is habitually lying, would be silly. There is a point where being positive can become being gullible and idiotic. Kinect is a great example.
It doesn't matter how advance Kinect 2 becomes, it serves nothing for games. MS knew that so they showed us fancy tech demo's instead.
It does nothing for games that we have had and are used to. I still like the tech and believe it has potential but its just never been reached and instead marketed more towards casuals, families, or as a non gaming device. I never bought one though for the reasons above. It "could" be great but only for certain uses which is the problem--I still don't want to have to rely on it. The old tech demos are still the coolest "gaming" uses yet. The kid destroying a city as a dinosaur or whatever--an interactive 3d "Rampage" basically. It could be cool for a city simulator as well (or Viva Piñata reboot). Of course there is the "Milo" tech where you can interact with a digital character (Kinectimals looked kind of interesting in that regard but limited and again more family centric than other possibilities). I still think it would be great for adventure/point and click style games (The Walking Dead for example could had been done easily and made things more visceral--think of what something like it or other arcade/PSN titles could be with Kinect/Move or even on the Wii U). MS though is sort of the company of possibilities ATM--what it has shown just never lives up to the potential/reality. Sony could do the same sort of stuff though and if they announced it probably wouldn't be given such a "wait and see" attitude from both sides. Double standard perhaps but also in some ways deserved.
People fear what they don't understand, hate what they cant conquer. Have you been paying any attention to the new kinect or are you talking about the old one; im confused. The engineering videos ive seen are crazy accurate with pretty much no noticeable lag.
Yusef faked the demo of the OS. Watch it again and watch his left hand.
From such examples it is pretty fair to say that if someone shows the full abilities of the Xb1, its not going to be MS. Least likely.
@MariaHelFutura Exactly. Look at all this crap too. 61 meta - Kinect Adventures (Microsoft Game Studios) 74 meta - Kinectimals (Frontier Studio/Microsoft Game Studios) 52 meta - Kinect Joy Ride (Big Park/Microsoft Game Studios) 73 meta - Kinect Sports (Rare/Microsoft Game Studios) 82 meta - Dance Central (MTV Games) 73 meta - Your Shape: Fitness Evolved (Ubisoft) 68 meta - EA Sports Active 2 (EA) 26 meta - Deca Sports Freedom (Hudson) 63 meta - DanceMasters (Konami) 50 meta - Adrenalin Misfits (Konami) 42 meta - Zumba Fitness (Majesco) 47 meta - Sonic Free Riders (Sega) 68 meta - The Biggest Loser: Ultimate Workout (THQ) 40 meta - Motion Sports (Ubisoft) 33 meta - Game Party: In Motion (Warner Bros.) @article "Kinect 2 games could be mindblowing" Keep telling yourself that
Really metacritic, -_- that's like the Wikipedia of review scores. While I agree that most of the kinect titles are absolutely horrible you cant just judge the device on being mind-blowing solely on the games. I've seen people accomplish things on the first kinect that 99% of the consumer market said was impossible like finger tracking and free movement or even shooting. While i don't expect it to be incredibly mind blowing after seeing how precautioned developer's were with past kinect implementation ( i can understand this because taking risk in the current market is something you rarely see)I do expect some amazing things from the PC/Modding community since they accomplished many things with the device that MS and AAA developers couldn't even do in gaming and outside as well.
"Kinect 2 games could be mindblowing" yes blow my brains out plz... ugh..
Haha I just said that outloud and then I looked at your avatar, hahaha.
Like Star Wars? or like the incredibly amount of kinect 2 gameplays showed in the conference?
...but they won't be ;D Didn't they announce some amazing jrpgs like panzer dragoon saga or dragon force for kinect? What happened with that?
It's Crimson Dragon, and it's the spiritual successor to Panzer Dragoon. I believe that game will be shown off at E3, but I think it might be coming to the Xbox One, either that or it'll finally get a release date on the Xbox 360. I love Panzer Dragoon, so it's something I've been following for a while now. It'll work well because Panzer Dragoon is on rails to begin with, plus dragons are always win!
I haven't heard a single gaming site put down the Kinect 2.0 yet, they've all been impressed and tried it hands on. I was very surprised at Adam Sessler's take on Kinect 2.0 because he hated the first Kinect a lot. He said it's much more 1:1 and it can recognize you in the dark, or 3 feet in front of it.
Every article. MS should hire you on their marketing team. It's a POS, Kinect never worked well, it was always faked on stage and seems to be continuing with the fake display on Tuesday. Kinect is awful, the only half decent thing is the voice commands which could be done with a mic and system software.
................ it works for me.
I'm not surprised you only have one bubble.
I assumed nobody cared to mention the kinect 2 reviews because everyone has already seen the kinect 1 games.
True 1:1 like that video posted the other day where it had input lag?
I don't see any lag on the video I posted, I've not heard of anyone having issues with it, in fact it tracks where you put the most strain on your body, looks interesting to me!
And actual footage of it, unlike the recorded presentation, still shows some lag and that flickering thing. Its minor, very minor, but its still there. Edit: "I don't see any lag on the video I posted" Well, try this on a minute in. Again, slight but still there. And still have yet to see it being used with a game.
And of course I forget to post the link... http://n4g.com/news/1263038...
I know how you feel about it already, from what I've seen it's night and day better! Try to get me to change my mind on how I think about something is really not going to happen. Xbox One is obviously a day one purchase for me, I don't care if I'm the only one who buys it, it's for me to like or dislike, not some random people on the internet.
Couldn't care less whether or not you want to buy it, I'm concerned about how MS might and apparently is abusing it and what that might lead to. Hell, that it actually works or not, that MS can find or make a game that works with it, is also besides the point of worry about reading news some day about cyber stalkers hacking into camera feeds.
There's nothing wrong with the tech itself. It has possibilities the same as the original. How developers handle those possibilities has yet to be seen for practical application, and the tech now(original Kinect) has rarely been proven great for gamers. Any disdain I've seen for it is more along the lines of that it's mandatory. For some it causes privacy concerns. For others they just hate the tech(motion controls in general)(admittedly without much cause...they could just avoid games that use it and still can I guess) and don't want to be forced to use it. Those are the only two major valid complaints I've seen about it(although the first is arguably somewhat conspiratorial in nature.) Many people do have trust issues with MS though, and I don't always blame people for that.
Could be. They have dramatically improved the latency and it looks bigger than the current kinect, which makes me think they have more processing power built in. But, proof is in the pudding and only time will tell. See you at E3.
I liked Kinect........when it was optional and i could have completely ignored it, unlike now where MS have forced the irritating POS down our throats.
I don't even see Microsoft as a company in the game industry any more.
To me, the Xbox One is like a VCR that just happens to have the ability to play games.
Nobody buys a VCR to play games, even if it can do it.
Probably won't be though will they? Let's be honest.
Please stop trying to push Kinect when I play games I want to relax not work out and get more tried
MS could sell shit in a box and the media will back them. Hilarious to think theres so many positive articles for X1.
Yeah I cannot wait to have the watchful eye of big brother MS in my living room and on 24x7. Who wants to be bothered with pushing buttons on a remote? Now you can flail about like a moron to change channels, resize your screen etc. In addition this is actually burning calories, so TV is now healthy and considered exercise. Only from the minds of Microsoft could TV be moved into the fitness category. I cannot wait to place the GIANT EYE (it is as big as the console itself) on top of my flat screen 1" thin TV. Oh wait...it won't rest on my TV. Hope it comes with a wall mount kit. I think it will look great protruding 5" off my wall.
Could be, but they won't.
they could be but the problem seems like it will remain, how to move in the game world. on rails games work great or games like dance central but fps games, racers, or action games all still remain a problem. action can be solved if they find a way to track you to where you can walk in place and move forward and the camera tracks your head to figure out which way your looking/walking. if ryse for example did that and it worked well, that would be loads of fun. fps and racing and traditional fighting games all need to be too precise so they are still out, the rest idk. time will tell, i wouldnt hold my breathe though
Oh really? You got to be kiddng me.
Fuck the kinect fuck the OS i just want a hardcore gaming system
So now kinect was shite BUT 2 is better tech.?? Missing the point . Voices and waving are not satisfactory control schemes . Humans are tactile. Our eyes, mouth and ears can enjoy other things but controlling games will not be best.
