Eternal Darkness’ Spiritual Successor One Sixth Funded

After eighteen days of crowd funding, Shadow of the Eternals is now has just over $245,000 supporting its development. Precursor Games, founded in July 2012, undertook the task of finally trying to create a title in a very similar direction to the lauded Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem after a lack activity from the struggling Silicon Knights.

Excitement was shown by both fans and websites alike at the news. Even more so at the teaser trailer which showed atmospheric, surreal and bloody sequences of the kind Eternal Darkness had been famous for. It had great visuals, unique monster designs which were still reminiscent of what we had seen before, and a great blend of the normal and supernatural.

Unfortunately it seems unlikely that we will see this game finished. (Dev, PC, Precursor Games, Shadow of the Eternals)

You really really can't understand why it's not getting funded? It's not a secret. It's not some mystery. It's not because Eternal Darkness was a GCN game or that it's a horror game.

Two words: Dennis. Dyack.

No one is funding this crook anymore.

And? His rebuttal of all the claims amount to "Nuh uh!" also see: Silicon Knights v. Epic Games. No one in their right mind is going to fund anything that puts their money with Dennis Dyack after that. The man doesn't know what honesty is.

The whole Kotaku interview thing was just one of many, many reasons people didn't trust SK and Dyack. The whole anonymous sources argument is just a distraction. Dyack has said many things very loudly and publicly over the years and his own words are as much of a condemnation as anything.

I wouldn't say that he shouldn't get second chance, but I'm sure not going to fund it, and I don't blame anyone else who doesn't trust him with their hard earned cash either.

or because people would rather fund stupid, idiotic and non innovative games like call of duty or angry birds not to mention after all the scams and failures like OUYA (which most devs mock and laugh at) most people realize kickstarts is a stupid website

sad days for gaming indeed

well Said Bad

Dyack is a money pit. I would never send this guy money. This is the last wimpier of this anal retentive person...

Riding the coat tails of a game now a couple generations ago...

Makes one game thinks he sh!t is golden...

Steals other peoples hard work calls it his own.

Blames gamers for his short comings

I am glad to see that this is his last play.... He should not be a problem any more...

In an industry that people want a survival horror game it could very well be a game many people want. It's almost seems like free money tbh.

every Nintendo fan who played the original wants this game to happen..
