Five ways Microsoft can convince me to buy the next Xbox

The next Xbox is set to be revealed tomorrow. If Microsoft hopes to win Cheat Masters over, this is what they need to see. (Xbox One)

I am ready....bring back another new gen Banjo too please...

Backwards compatibility is a nice perk, and always on has to be a no go.

Backwards compatibility is a huge deal for me, so if the next Xbox has it I'll probably pick one up day one. Unless they pull something stupid like blocking used games, anyways.

@jimbobwahey

Backwards compability doesn't matter to me, simple reason is that im going to keep my 360/ps3 so if i want to play those i have no problem using a different hdmi or composite for xbox, my tv has like 4 hdmis i think i'll be okay : ), unless you want to sell your 360 or something.

I don't need to be convinced but thanks anyway.

Fix their predatory online system and it should already warrant the purchase. They have a decent list of solid IP, and there are going to be more in due time.

"Rareware is one of the most talented developers"

In the 90s they were. Right now there is nothing left of that rare, the people who made it great all left its now just a name.

5. Pricing is everything
4. Rare is the key
("Rareware is one of the most talented developers in Microsoft’s surprisingly small roster of development team.")
3. Always-on – NO!
2. Traditional controllers
("A new rumor I read about the next-gen Xbox is that it will feature new “flat” controllers.")
1. You CAN take it with you
--Whether the old system library will work (backwards compatibility, etc...)

1 way the N4G community could make me really happy.
Stop letting repeat articles in. Yeah I know it's here tomorrow, I know you're all excited, but 1000 blog entries from 1000 individuals with the same thing being told is a little annoying. I know it's a little bit of a dry season for news right before E3, but we gotta hang in there, not give in and read the same shenanigans for 10 days.

Anytime you state that you need to be convinced, you're not going to ever be convinced.
Hicken  +   437d ago
Not really.
Jek_Porkins  +   436d ago
Actually yes it is, I mean if you are taking a negative stance where you flat out say you wont buy something "unless", it's probably not going to happen. Ultimatums never work in the retail world, especially with electronics.

The DS4 is gimmicky.....RIGHT....if you say so
UNGR  +   437d ago
By pure definition, it, the six axis, the touch pad, and the share button are gimmicks. It might be used in a derogatory matter, but the definition is still correct.

To Root:
Tons of people complained about 6 axis being wonky. (why it hasn't been used in a lot of games)
The touch pad might be small but it doesn't change the fact that it's a gimmick by definition.
And the share button as useful as it may be, I'm still skeptical. I could see a lot of abuse, and a flood of unnecessary videos on YouTube. People who share videos probably already have a capture card, and if your picking up a console at launch it's not like you're lacking in funds. It's a great concept, just a lot of room for error. I like the new design of the controller, it's fantastic. But you take Sony products too seriously. You defend these products to your dying breath, people can make mistakes you know.

The touch pad is such a small thing

Nobody has complained about the six axis

People wanted a share button, its going to help people who create videos online
josephayal  +   437d ago
project gotham racing and perfect dark
-New Killer Instinct
-Shenmue 3
-Controller with a fixed d-pad no gimmicks (like touchscreens and such).
-New IPs
-Restructure XBL

That's all I need.

@Root

"The touch pad is such a small thing

People did complain about the six axis which is why you had games like Uncharted 2 stop using it as a mandatory feature for doing things like throwing grenades. And no, people don't want a share button (not unless they're casuals) considering the whole concept could be done with the press of the PS button. Sony is going the way of Nintendo with their controller gimmicks now. PS3 I could tolerate but the PS4 controller is just terrible and there isn't an option to use the PS3 controller or even have basic backwards compatibility. Sony is all about gimmicks like touchscreens, motion controls, & facebook now.
