The Last of Us SIXAXIS Use and Control Setup

"Shake Controller to temporarily recharge flashlight."

The story is too old to be commented.

Seriously, I can't remember the last time a game used it. Which is a shame because I liked the touch it added to Resistance:FoM, Batman:AA, Heavenly Sword.

This sounds like a good use of it.

Agreed. I first read this title as:

"The Last time Sixaxis was Used"

I really loved how they used sixaxis in Ratchet and clanc TOD.

For all the people who don't know. Sony didn't have rumble in the sixaxis controllers because of ongoing litigations with Immersion at that time. They had to make a bad or a bad decicion. The first bad is that had they acknowledged that rumble is needed the price for settling the matter would've gone up by tens of millions.

The second bad was going the route of saying rumble is not needed since it is kinda BS to implement rumble afterwards and make people pay for it (the early adopters I mean). It kinda helps to understand the situation since the lawsuit with Immersion was ongoing but like I said, either a bad decision or a bad decision. No way to win that one.

I'm a Sony person but I too remember how awfully they tried to spin it (rumble interferes with sixasis - as if both has to be used at the same time, even if interfered, which it didn't.)

Btw, my favourity Sixaxis use of all time is Killzone 2's sniping. They removed it in KZ3 probably since whiners were more vocal than the people who liked it. Companies have to be really careful who to listen to.

BeZdaBest1764d ago (Edited 1764d ago )

lol... i think they should have removed the sixaxis and drop the price of the ds3(dual typo) these controllers are kind of expensive .

SilentNegotiator1764d ago

Considering how things turned out, it would have been best for them if they had never included it (instead having vib. feedback from the start). They would have gotten less criticism AND saved on expenses.

But for what it is worth, I enjoyed some of the things that Ps3 experimented with this gen. For all of the trouble that the cell, blu-ray, sixaxis caused, there was definitely some punch to what they allowed. Not ultimately worth it (other than BR), but interesting.

BeZdaBest1764d ago

cant disagree with you there..

Outside_ofthe_Box1764d ago

Only time I felt sixaxis was a welcome addition was for sniping in KZ2. I also liked using it for reloading in GTAIV.

ginsunuva1763d ago

Kz2, Motorstorm, Warhawk all used it really well.

masa20091764d ago

And Lair!

Just kidding.

Blaze9291763d ago

lol what a dumb feature. almost completely forgot about it. I really would love for them to remove it if that warrants a cheaper controller

Similar to Infamous with the use of L1 to change into Shoot mode which is cool.

And the SIXAXIS is a great touch, it'll surely build up tension in the game.

Jek_Porkins1764d ago

I was hoping to avoid that.... I was so happy when they dropped it from the Uncharted series after the first game.

MidnytRain1764d ago (Edited 1764d ago )

Seriously, it's the definition of a gimmick. As much as these game companies want us to believe otherwise, simply moving around the controller we've always had does not add immersion. SIXAXIS needs to die a silent death underneath a pillow.

IronChefWong1764d ago

The first Motorstorm felt great with sixaxis. Felt like I was actually behind the wheel. Didn't feel quite right with Pacific Rift though. Also the Flower demo was good too. Not too many games get the execution right.

grailly1763d ago

the flower demo? you mean flower? flower is awesome and a full game sir!

specialguest1764d ago

Sixaxis function needs to die. It has never added to the game and always felt gimmicky.

SilentNegotiator1764d ago

It does not need to die. It was optional 98% of the time. If you don't like the option, fine, but I would welcome it.
