Gran Turismo Wants To Build Real-Life Racer

Sky News writes:

Video game Gran Turismo could be set to give big brand car makers a run for their money.

At a special event to celebrate the title's 15th anniversary, its creator said he hopes the brand will eventually build its own car.

"We have big dreams and I think one of those dreams is maybe one day making an actual car," Kazunori Yamauchi told Sky News.

Speaking at the Silverstone circuit, the game designer and former racing driver said he has worked more closely with car manufacturers in recent years. (Culture, Gran Turismo 6, Kazunori Yamauchi, PS3)

Will it beat the Nürburgring lap record? He should give it a go, or try to beat the GTR.

The driver in the added clip must have some massive balls, my brain and heart would have exploded if I was in the passenger seat… and probably my arse too.

Really? That was new for me.
I thought GT1 already achieved it :)

It's the Stig. Watch Top Gear?

Old news, he's been saying this for years (and gets closer to that goal each time he does something new collaborating with manufacturers, the Toyota CAN-ECU datalogger being the latest).

Every time I go to a GT6 article, you're here, spouting negative stuff about the game and/or its developers

yewles is really just saying the truth. But the closest that Kaz has gotten to making a car is the GT by Citroen. It wasn't totally produced by him or the PD team (the design of it mostly was though) and it wasn't a racer.

What about the citroen gt? Wasnt that designed by PD? At I know it originally was supposed to be electric, but they put the Ford gt engine in it in real world.

That citroen gt was a boss. I would have loved to own that car.
NotSoSilentBob  +   420d ago
Although PD did design it, Citroen did build it and market it.

Honestly its too real ... Maybe not real enough for them.

I hope he can make it a reality, this man & his studio put so much time and effort in every GT game its just ridiculous.

With all the data and knowledge Kaz has drawn up and compliled since GT1 I'm sure he could end up setting a niche car company with his own name.

He could maybe start by designing/building his own cars with engines he could get possibly from Nissan.

Ummmmmmm, and given how OCD he can be with the game, how many decades would pass before he would be okay with the real product?

Why I'm not surprised?, this is the main target of the developers not just Polyphony Digital.
