“After Fuse reveal, we scrapped all the weapons” Insomniac CEO

GamesRadar - It was a big deal back in 2011 when Insomniac Games, creators of some of the most iconic PlayStation franchises ever, confirmed that they were going multiformat. During this generation, they gave us the (mostly) great Resistance series, and the always-fun Ratchet & Clank games. Prior to that, they created Spyro, which lost its way over the last decade, until finding a more successful home under the Skylanders brand at Call of Duty publisher Activision.

So when we were offered the chance to chat to founder and CEO Ted Price, during a promotional tour for his latest game--Fuse--we jumped at it.

I think you scrapped more then the weapons...you kind of got rid of everything which looked good in the Overstrike reveal.

I mean you can argue that it was just a CGI trailer with no gameplay but you could tell it was an Insomniac game, it looked fun to look at, bright, colourful, funny, had great looking characters....and they threw all that away because of EA and their "testers". You can argue as much as you want that it wasn't EA but after what they've done over the years it obviously points to them

"“One of the first comments that usually comes out when people play Fuse is “Yeah, this feels like an Insomniac game"

lol....if you say so. I never felt like that when playing the demo. I was pretty much thinking

"What the hell happened to this game, this is not Insomniac, least not the one I grew up with"

“Yeah, this feels like an Insomniac game"

It REALLY doesn't...

interesting points. guess I never cared to put much thought into it after the demo but no doubt, EA's fingers all over it. It definitely didn't feel like an Insomniac game though it was pretty fun. The Overstrike reveal definitely looked much more appealing and Insomniac like... idk, I was mixed, fun yes but I think I can wait a month or two for it to hit $40-45....

If it felt like an Insomniac game, I'd buy it. After that demo, however, I'm not going anywhere near this. Generic in every way.

I don't wanna be that guy, but Fuse will most likely tank. I predict average review scores, and the game won't push that many units. I haven't really seen any marketing or advertising for it at all. Most people who *were* looking forward to it stopped because of the dramatic change of art direction.

Personally I didn't really care about either art style, it was the concept that pulled me in. But from what the demo has shown, the game just seems really average. Like it's not -bad-...but it's not great either. It's just kinda there.

A shame, because it's ironic of Insomniac: They wanted to go multiplatform to generate more sales, yet this game will most likely sell less than R3 did. What a pity. Hope they can come up with a killer title after this.

Problem is "that guy" seems to be almost anyone right now . You summed up the feelings of most around here

I love how in the demo, there's that opening set piece that somewhat resembles the train section of Uncharted 2 and the fact that Insomniac thought so much of that little section, they put it in the demo and closing movie. It wasn't that good.

They should have aped Borderlands a little more and got creative with the perks...and they should have stuck with the art direction of Overstrike. The game looks like Charlie Brown. Nothing but muted browns and that annoying fuze yellow glow.

Lastly, there's no purpose in using anyone but Naya as she is blatantly overpowered...

I'll pick this game up in the middle of next gen when it's cheap and Insomniac goes back to making a legit RnC and Fall of Man 2....or something.
