This lifelong San Francisco gamer is aiming to become the first-ever woman to reach the iconic 'Donkey Kong kill screen'
"Something special happened when I started playing. It didn't happen overnight, but definitely clicked. Somehow, it sparked my interest and managed to ignite a flame. Maybe it's the fireballs." (From the article) A lot of people like myself can relate to this; you play a game and don't stop until you set a record. I want to do that with a few games I'm currently playing.
Is it just me or does Kayla Rose sound like a porn name?
"This lifelong San Francisco gamer is aiming to become the first-ever woman to reach the iconic 'Donkey Kong kill screen" Implicating that no female ever reached that screen is a little bit pretentious, don't you think? And adding that horrid name of her on top doesn't help to anything. Oh and, this is why nobody takes "LE GAYMHURR GURLLL xD" 's seriously. They are just too high on their own farts to realize they're making the whole female community look bad.
It's an official event thing. We're talking Twin Galaxies official kill screen players, the first woman would be her. Much like how you can break a record, but having Guinness there is another story. TG covers Guinness' gaming records now. This article is about the Kongoff, which is refereed by the founder of TG.
relax sheesh, its worded that way to say its offically going to be in the record books. over reactions like yours are why people dont take people like you seriously.
Have you ever kill screened DK or even come close? You have any idea what it takes now and how much easier it is with the wealth of information we have nowadays. Back in the day, you had to figure everything out on your own, and dying meant having to start all over. I'd be shocked if a woman ever broke 500K, let alone a kill screen in those conditions. Play DK, only on an arcade cabinet and without reading anything online and your respect for Billy Mitchell, Steve Wiebe, and Tim Scerby will go up exponentially. And to think there were tons of people waltzing to the kill screen back then is ridiculous. Let alone some maverick woman, as they make up a smaller percentage of total gamers. I can say without a doubt, that before the internet, and when playing DK meant going to the arcade putting in quarters and playing: that no woman has ever kill screened. And it doesn't look like one has since the proliferation of information only really available since King of Kong. Even if you disagree with that, we can say that no woman has ever officially kill screened. Which is what really matters in competitive gaming.
No implication... the kill screen was something only 2 or 3 people were confirmed to have done at recently as the middle of last decade. The various websites and organizations that track such things now list 50+ people they can confirm, all of which are men. I concede the fact that the odds are that list is only a fraction of the number that really have... as not everyone knew they could be verified back in the heyday of the game or didn't care to be... but, all indications are that there isn't a woman that's done it just yet... at least not officially. As for the rest of your comments... and the horrid comments you attempted to post under the actual story under a fake name... you clearly miss the point of the piece or any of the other features on my site if you think that... but to each their own.
were you attempting to reply to someone specific? cause its hard to tell
