April sales rained down 42% hardware and 17% software losses YOY, with total dollars spent down a gloomy 25% overall, according to The NPD Group. Full sales figures and extensive analysis of April 2013 numbers with Peter Skerritt.
That is an ugly picture painted.
damn Vita at rock bottom as usual.
How so? April isn't usually " go buy a console month" or anything like that. My suggestions: * Purchase a 3DS now if you haven't already. * Buy a Vita & Wii U in 2014 * Buy either xbox720 or PS4 in 2014
Jeez. I guess the summer drought truly has begun? It's kind of weird actually, wasn't there a post just last night saying Nintendo software sales had reason by over 50%? Amazing to see a figure like this after that.
Well metro last light just released, Remember me and Fuse are releasing soon and finally the Summer blockbuster, The Last Of Us, is certain to shake things up for the next couple of months. Unfortunately I think remember me is going to be the sleeping dogs of this year as a huge sleeper hit of the year. Hopefully I am wrong and Remember Me become a success.
Oh yes. The Last of Us is going to be one friggin' beast of a game. That will surely send the PS3 off with a bang. Hopefully we'll see sales increases around that time.
It will all turn around starting next month. Well at least for the Wii U. Let the games begin. Finally.
i think the buzz about the next gen consoles have affected the sales of current console...atleast i hope thats what is 1.Xbox - 130 thousand 2. 3DS- slightly above 100 thousand 3.PS3 -100 thousand
that or a price cut is sorely needed for the aging consoles.
I remember in 2008 200k was considered last place and 500 to 700k was considered first, :/
Even the DS sold more than the Wii U! Both the Vita and the Wii U need some serious games ;)
Not only is this the typical Summer drought, but new consoles have been announced, or soon will be in the case of the next Xbox, so expect sharper declines because people will want to save up for new hardware and software.
Wii U vs VITA, the battle for the 6th place ribbon. This month winner is Wii U by a landslide (33,000 - 20,000). Congrat to Nintendo.
meanwhile in japan......
looks like the 360 has stopped killing the PS3 in the US. 130k vs 100+k maybe the recent appreciation of Playstation is having an effect.
for such a "lack of games" the wiiu still sold nearly half what the ps3 did. I wouldn't call that bad. considering all the titles that released this month on playstation. and the price difference between ps3 and wiiu and the ps3 bundles. I don't think Nintendo is in near as much trouble as people want to suggest.
