Ubisoft believes Far Cry could become a top 20 IP on PS4 & Xbox 720

Ubisoft believes Far Cry could become one of the biggest-selling properties on next-generation consoles. (Far Cry 3, PS4, Xbox One)

Far Cry 3 was an amazing game. One of the best from last year. Amazing graphics and production value and great replay value.

Vaas was an great antagonist superbly voiced and acted. He was a great villain in a long time. Rare these days to have a villain that is memorable as Vaas is.

However I felt that Ubisoft made some wrong choices with him, he was killed off abruptly half way through the game...I was really hoping he would come towards the end of the game with a surprise and have much more memorable scenes as the way he died wasn't clear if he had been killed as he moved his eyes plus in some weird hallucination as well.

Plus finding out he was under someone else Hoyt or what ever his name is was not even half interesting as Vaas was. Vaas could have been the main antagonist for the whole game but ubisoft decided to kill off one of the best and memorable villains of this gen. He definitely need more screen time.

Did I ever tell you the definition of insanity?

I thought Far Cry 3 was amazing like you did... at first. Looking back on it, it got repetitive quite quickly and I lost interest. Vaas was a great character but like you said he got killed off way too early. Hoyt had nothing on him.

The game is great imo and I did not find it repetitive because of how many ways it could be played. I took out some outposts with stealth, others by wingsuiting in with a flamethrower, sticking C4 on a quad, releasing animals from cages, etc.

It's honestly my favorite game of last year with it letting me play I how wanted to for each situation and be creative. It's a game where you are given easily usable tools and have to make your own fun. I know a lot of people who didn't like it because they just played it like COD.

If the next Far Cry (whether that's 4 or some other title) can deliver even half of what Far Cry 3 did, it'd be an awesome game.

Can't wait for the next one!

Just please don't turn it into the next Assassins Creed, I think the reason Far Cry 3 is so good was because of the longer development cycle. Would hate to see another annualized game.

Ubisoft, I can only hope you bring something as epic as FC3 to next gen.

Farcry 4 with even better, bigger coop would go a long way in making it a greater game. That and possibly adding bit more variety to the landscape (which was awesome but wish bit more FC2 in the next one as much darker and denser jungles and beautiful open savannah).

If they could create a balance between the two I would be in love. Expand a few things greater and it could be so much more though.

I can't wait to see what next gen FC brings to the table. Let's be real here, next gen anything really.
KrisButtar  +   781d ago
Did not like the co-op in FC3 was really forced IMO, I hope next gen we get some co-op open world games but done in a way where the story between SP and Co-op are the same, so if you play it one way or the other you still get the full experience.

I did like FC2 to a point, the world was awesome but the story was crap..disliked eating pills all the time. MY 1st time running through the savannah was where are the lions.

I know I will be picking up FC4 day 1

Farcry 3 is beautiful... the mere thought of Farcry 4 causes my eyes and ears to gush blood.
EvilFluff91  +   781d ago
Not bad to say it was originally a PC tech demo made by Crytek, them ditching it and Ubisoft Montreal taking over development was the best thing that could of happened to the IP, still love Farcry Instincts though. :)

imo Farcry 3 is the best shooter of this generation hands down..if they rlly look at their mistakes with Farcry 3 the 4th might be the best fps ever made
Anthotis  +   781d ago
If their future Far Cry games are anything like their most recent one then they will blow the competition out of the water.

My only real criticism of the game is that it had far too much in the way of hand holding. They should leave the dumbing down of games to Bethesda, and focus on delivering a real challenge for mature gamers.

Anyone else play both the PS3 and PC version. If so did you find that the PS3 version just didn't feel the same a the PC. I am not talk about graphics wise just the feel of the game. As I managed to sit down for hours on the PC but couldn't manage more than one hour on the PS3.

yeah it's called been a PC fanboy you enjoy more when yo play on PC.. other enjoy more when they play on xbox360 and others enjoy more when they play the same game on the PS3..

everyones has preferences and FC3 gameplay was the same game on P or PS3.. PC having advantage of having better res and fps if you got a good enough PC.. but in the end the same gameplay and game.
forcefullpower  +   779d ago
What the hell has a fanboy got to do with anything. I have the PC and PS3 hooked up to the same 55" inch TV and there feels like a huge difference in how the game feels and its NOT to do with res and fps.

That why I asked the question if anyone else had noticed it.
Waller  +   778d ago
Well, forcefullpower, I personally have it on the 360, but I can only guess that it might have to do with the controller. A keyboard compared to a game controller might make playing for long stretches easier. Since the only difference between the two versions is a controller (unless you used the same controller for both), then I'd have to go with that. If not, then it may just be in your head.

But as I said, I only have it for the 360, so I'm not exactly an expert on the two.
ssj27  +   778d ago
Well no one notice such a thing obviously you got no agrees..

So do this, open your mind to a possibility of you loving your PC over anything and you will enjoy playing more in it even if the game you play is the same game on your PS3.

You sounded like a PC fanboy and that's ok to have preferences ..
but don't bs yourself with such a lie..

Not attacking you but just clarifying what you ask.. and the game on a pc or ps3 is the same overall experience. With the pc having advantage on fps and higher res. Nothing more...
