What is Your Favorite Final Fantasy Game of all Time?

In recent years, the Final Fantasy series on PlayStation systems has been somewhat quiet in terms of new releases, but 2013 changes all that by bringing us the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. - PSLS (Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy Agito XIII, Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy Tactics, PS Vita, PS2, PS3, PSP, Retro, Wii, Xbox 360)

FF8 for me. The Lionheart was just too BEASTLY. =]

I loved FF8 the most as well. Had to play through the game about 5 times to understand how the combat system works.
1st playthrough, I didn't understand the draw system so just used GF and boost through the whole game.
Probably my 10th(or maybe 20th) playthrough I understood the whole card system. Basically complete the game without leveling a single character.
My last playthrough I did was to only level up seifer and Edea, which made leveling through card obsolete.
My characters were way OP and could easily beat any lvl 100 characters on the island closest to heaven and hell.

Anyway, loved the variety of different play styles you could do to finish game.

I also loved FFXII because of the combat system, and also learnt the glitches to trick system to getting 100% chance to getting item from treasure chests. Must have spent 200+ hours on 1 single playthrough and still have yet to complete the game.

FFIX would jump straight to the top of the list for me. Not only did it show what the PS1 was capable of nearing the end of the generation, but it also brought with it two of the greatest FF characters- Vivi and Steiner. STEINER WAS A BEAST. Plus, equipment-based character class growth instead of that crappy DRAW command in VIII.

So, what are some of anyone's favorite FF CHARACTERS of all time? Here are my top 3:

3. Adelbert Steiner
2. Seifer Almasy
1. Auron

6
1 (remake)
9
7
10

I like these all pretty equally, even with 1's lack of story....it's just great, and kinda made better by 9, and 9 is made better by 1. It's an interesting circle those two games create.

What is Your Favorite Final Fantasy Game of all Time?"

I believe Final Fantasy XIII was the best FF ever. It had the best story, the best characters and boss battle used every member in your party just to kill it.

FF7 only gets a lot of props because it was the first FF to go 3D. If they made other FF's in 3D they would kill FF7.

Final Fantasy 6 which was FF3 on the SNES. Followed by FF9 and FF4 on SNES.

these 3 games are my favorite FF games of all time.

i have replayed these games more than any other FF games in the series.

You're an educated gamer. I hate hearing opinions on this question from gamers who haven't even played the entire series. I COMPLETELY agree; 6, 9, 4 are my top three also. You can't have a proper opinion if you haven't played the entire series.
Aceman18  +   494d ago
@crazy

yea these 3 games in this franchise just has a special place in my heart. for me they have heart and soul.

i think those that disagree with us probably started playing the franchise with FF7.
Mottsy  +   494d ago
@ Crazy you don't like hearing opinions from gamers on a game commenting website. Fair enough.

I have not played the entire serious but I did enjoy FF4, X, 6,7

Never been a fan of the series but I do wonder how the sales figures went throughout the series.
ltachiUchiha  +   495d ago
They actually use to do very well. The oldd ff games blow the new ones out of the water quality wise & sales wise.

FF 7= 9.8 million. FF 8= 8.15 million (somehow I didn't really like this one that much) FF 9= 5.3 million. FF 10= 6.32 million. FF 10-2= 4 million

They actually sold well despite being on one console at the time & those sales numbers were from 2010 so they could have sold more.

Actually FFXIII was like the fastest selling FF ever released!

OnT:
My fav is III and VI.
Larry L  +   495d ago
If you don't like 8 much, look up a site called "squall's dead" or something like that. It's like this crazy conspiracy theory about the game, that I actually think is right. And while it didn't make me "LIKE" the game any more than I did, it kinda gives you (me) a whole new appreciation for 8 and makes you look at it a different way.

It's a very interesting and fairly quick read and I suggest checking it out to any FF fan that may have been on the fance about what they think about 8. And it may even be a more interesting read for fans who loved 8.

"Squall's Dead" Google it

FFX is listed in some websites to have sold 8.05 million copies, while others state that it sold around 6.5 million copies.

FFIX is still my all-time favorite, but X is a close second.
SuperLupe  +   495d ago
FFIX is one of the fondest memories of my teenage years. It marked me for life.

Sometimes I tell myself even when I'll be 80 years old sitting on the front porch of my house, I'll still think about the incredible adventure I lived with Vivi, Zidane, Garnet and the whole crew.

Truly magical moments.

I love games like that.

LOVED 9 as well, and it made me love 1 even more than I originally did.

I was in my 50's when I played it for the first time and it was wonderful. It was the best of the series for me although I probably played the ds version of III the most.
Ilovetheps4  +   495d ago
7 with 10 close behind. Those were two of the most memorable for me and they were just tons of fun in my opinion.
Erudito87  +   495d ago
seriously when is the FINAL fantasy out?
Never.
Tales RPG addict  +   495d ago
that is the name of one of the XenoGears songs in game.
@Tales RPG addict.

Indeed your right. Its a reference to Fei and Id and is the name of the amazing song of the same name. Absolutley love that game.
Snookies12  +   494d ago
1987 on the Nintendo Entertainment System was the release of Final Fantasy, which was intended to be the first and last game made by Square. Lol, sorry, had to be THAT guy. XD
Lucreto  +   495d ago
I love them all in their own special way.

I think I like FF X the most followed by FF IX.

I will have to say the one that was my introduction into the Final Fantasy series. I don't remember exactly what number it was, it was on SNES. I want to say Final Fantasy 2. I remember the SNES box was red with a lil a white monster guy on the front hanging out.
rlacorne  +   495d ago
Hmm that's a mix of 2 (4) and 3 (6).

The red box was final fantasy 2, with Rosa, Cecil and Kain.

The moogle (Over a purple background) was final fantasy 3, with Terra, Locke and Celes.
MikeyDucati1  +   495d ago
Thanks a plenty for the clarification. Then it would be Final Fantasy 2, because I remember those characters names. And yes it was a moogle, (couldn't think of the name) for FF3. I loved that menu theme music on FF2. A beautiful piece indeed...
rlacorne  +   495d ago
American 3, final fantasy 6.

Nothing ever came close to Celes' suicide scene in terms of dramatic power, not even Aerith's death (Okay, that came close).

6, then 9, then 7.
Its so hard to choose just one. I am very torn between 7 and 9 and my absolute favorite so I think I will call that a tie.
josephayal  +   495d ago
FFX

I have to say X, I loved all of the characters and the story.
rambler  +   495d ago
Americans. Please stop calling Final Fantasy VI by the wrong name (Final Fantasy III). They made a weird decision releasing it as that, no need to continue it.

7 is my favourite, but I could pick 8 on the right day.

I respect that, not many will agree with you, but I respect people who found blissful enjoyment from XIII. In fact, I somewhat envy it!
rlacorne  +   495d ago
XIII wasn't that bad really. Once the world opened up, it kicked into full gear and was a whole lot of fun. The problem is the time it took for the game to reach that point. I know many persons who lost interest before that.
3-4-5  +   494d ago
There are probably tons of games I played as a kid that, looking back now weren't that good, but I had hours of fun regardless.

If you find a game fun....that is all that matters.

FF13 just doesn't seem like it's for me...I'm glad it exists though.
PuertoRicanVolta  +   495d ago
Tactics, but if I have to choose from the main series... VI or VIII - tough to say

Tactics was something special though
Trago1337  +   495d ago
6 and 4, with 9 being close behind.
Tales RPG addict  +   495d ago
FFIV, FFVI, and FFX most.
GABRIEL1030  +   495d ago
1. FF VII
2. FF VIII
3. FF X
4. FF XII
PooEgg  +   495d ago
I am torn between VIII and X, but VIII wins because Triple Triad was so much better than blitzball.
